Train from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri?

Hi,

we are four of us planning to go to Sikkim this dec. 2 are coming from chennai and 2 from mumbai. The plan was to synch in calcutta and take a train from there - but i cant seem to find any train running from calcutta to new jalpaguri.

Can someone help?

Or suggest an alternate simpler way to reach.

I am not sure if you are trying to say that reservation is not available or …….

Even if you do not get a reserved ticket. Try the tatkal, given 5 days in advance. I am sure you will get one.

Darjeeling Mail (Superfast) is the best train (10 hours) between Sealdah and NJP. Go for it.

Hi,

There are manytrains to NJP from Howrah. The best thing to do is to take the night traing ie. 2343 +DARJEELING MAIL SEALDAH 22:05
We have travelled by this train its an overnight train getting you to NJp in the morning 8 am and by 12 noon you should be in gangtok.

We arrived from Mumbai in the morning by Howrah mail and then used the day to look around Kolkata and with this train were in NJP the next morning.

Thanks guys.

I initially didnt realise that there was no station called calcutta - rahter it was sealdah and howrah.

We have decided to fly onward, as otherwise we seem to be losing a lot of time in transit. Though, e plan to do the return journey by train.
