Hi,

I am sure you have enjoyed a lot during DurgaPuja. This was a trip to clear my head just before I start the MBA exams spree starting in November. We planned a trip to Dooars at first but that time the encephalitis fear made us cancel that lovely plan. Then we planned for a leisure trip to Gangtok.

Day 1: (including the night before) Crawling through the Nabami evening crowd we reached Sealdah station. "We" means 2Boys and 3 Girls. We started by Padatik at night and reached NJP in the morning. Our driver was waiting there with a Innova which would take us to Gangtok.

Arrived and ready to start for Gangtok

We reached Gangtok by 3 pm and as we had already planned that we will just spend the sitting idle and doing some adda we did not rush anything. We checked into the Hotel. Here I must mention something about the Hotel. It was a B&B named "Tashi Tagey" at Tadong, a place 10 mins away from M.G. Marg. The nicest thing about the Hotel is the inside decors, and the most homely behavior of the owner and his whole family. His wife and a beautiful young lady who works there cooked us a handful of hot and tasty food. We took rest for a while and spent the evening at their rooftop. The decor I mentioned was fully designed by the Hotel Owner and he took almost 28 years to complete building this hotel.

First look of Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Technology. I don't know how is someone supposed to go and just study in the middle of this beauty

We also found a nice little cafe just beside the hotel and we went there to have a cup of tea.

From the roof top. Shutter time was 4 seconds, but did not have a tipod. So it is the best I could get

We called it a Day. More coming up within the next few days

DAY 2: We woke up in the morning and when I looked out the room window the sunny sky made me very happy.

View from the room window. Splendid weather and clear sky. Ah! that's a treat

We were scheduled to go for sightseeing. The driver told us it will be a Ten Points sightseeing but we decided to we will not run from one spot to another so we fixed on the following points:
1. Hanuman Tok
2. Tashi View Point
3. Rumtek Monastery
4. Ban Jhakri Falls

We started from our hotel and at first reached Hanuman Tok. One gets a excellent view of Kanchenjungha from here.

And there was a Hanuman Mandir and the architecture was similar to buddhist architecture. I've always loved them.

Then we went to Tashi view point. This point was also for a clear view of kanchenjungha. But it was too crowded, and I am feeling embarrassed to say one of the tourist (a woman from our very own Kolkata) was shouting at her son for clicking the pictures of mountains and not clicking the pictures of her daughter who, clad in saree, looked like taking marital pictures.

Found this flower everywhere

I did not want to spend anymore time there and approached towards Rumtek. This is place I have always visited while visiting Gangtok. I simply love the architecture, the art and the deep silence of the place.

She was sooooo cute, i couldn't help but frame her

We spent a very long time inside the monastery and took some pictures and enjoyed the silence.

The gang and the dog. This group of old people was circling the main monastery building and the dog was following them

After that we had lunch and proceeded towards Ban Jhakri falls. The road was dangerous, but again what to enjoy in Sikkim if the roads are in good condition. The falls was huge and vast. I couldn't capture any because it was dark and I did not have a tripod with me.

I will come back with the last part - Tsongmo lake. And pardon me for my improper writing skills. I am making this more of a Photologue. I will try to add more pictures on a separate post.

Till then cheers
