Taxi to Kurseong

You should budget at least 3 hours for the road trip from Darjeeling to the Bagdogra airport. It can be done in less time but the road conditions are not the best and better to have more time for a slow and safe journey.

You may get shared taxi from NJP. But there is no certainty. However, from Siliguri regular shared cab service is available. The Stand is near Mahanda Bridge, close to Main Bus Stand. The last time when I traveled from Siliguri to Kurseong by Shared Cab about one and half years back, it was only 60/- per seat (if my memory serves me right). I always consider an ETA at airport at least 2.5 hrs prior to take off and then usually consider at least 30 mins extra to the time assumed when leaving my destination. This is essential in the Darjeeling hills, especially getting out of Darjeeling where the traffic is pretty bad nowadays and liable to cause jams without warning. Add to it that travelling in a shared taxi means they might stop for at least 20 mins to half an hour to have some tea/snacks along the way. The Rohini road is in pristine condition at the moment so actual travelling time might not be too much BUT Siliguri and Bagdogra can be pretty bad by themselves.
I flew back on 27th May and had I not kept a decent leeway, might have missed my flight! For the first time, I got stuck for about 40 minutes in a massive traffic jam 6 kms out of Bagdogra airport (about a km before Bihar More) ... all because of someone not having the brains to go for road repairing in the evening or early morning. Bang in the middle of the day, the road was being laid without concern that this being the only route to and from the airport, it would cause considerable distress to tourists. But such apathy is the norm here and such things cannot be anticipated... all you can do is assume you could have a problem and go with sufficient time in hand to be able to relax and still gett to the airport well in advance.
Also the security check at Bagdogra takes ages, so its best to be there as early as you can!
