Thank you
Thanks a lot iyou!!
I already search for some information about sunderbans and i think i'm really going to try even though i don't know if i will return or remain there as a juicy meal to a bengal tiger... I guess that traveling to sunderbans might get a bit complicated to a first timer in india so i will probably go on a arranged trip over there!!! Thanks again and also for the advice on what to visit! I guess going to the taj mahal is out of the question... right? Ricardo |

Ric, there is core area in Sundarbans where you cannot enter. And there is no guaranty that you will be able to see the Royal Bengal Tiger in Sundarbans. Tigers are the most unpredictable (according to the specialists) in this part. You will find so many programs on tiger in the channels like Discovery, National Geography or Animal Planets etc. but they are filmed on Bandhabgarh and other parts. Programs on Bengal tigers are significantly low in number. But Sundarbans is an unique place on earth. You will enjoy . Wish you a ‘Tiger luck’ .- Somnath |

I have come to the realization that tigers are just about the last thing worth seeing in a tiger park. This is because of the obscene way some parks "guarantee" seeing tigers. I would much rather just enjoy the morning outing and afternoon quiet than be part of the mad rush to see a bored tiger.
Tigers- the original touts? ![]()

Hmmmmm………
I got your point. Tigers of Sundarbans are the mysterious creatures; you cannot compare them with any of their species from some other habitat. ALL of them are deadly to mankind (I know tiger is a furious animal) as tigers from this area keep human at No. 1 in their menu card. You can’t believe that there is a village called “Bidhaba gram” that means the village of widows. Adult males of this village go to collect honey and in most of the cases they never return. Tiger is the other name of terror in Sundarbans. Common people from Sundarbans do not utter the word ‘Bagh’ (tiger). They call ‘Dakshinray’ due to horror and sheer respect. They believe ‘Banbibi’ (local Goddess) protects these tiger and give her magical power to them. So before entering the jungle they try to please Banbibi and request her to protect them from tiger. Unless you have a visit to the place, have a chat with local people you cannot realize the extreme condition and as soon as you will get a first hand info, you will be surprised how they are able to survive. Hope, some attention will be there parallel to the promotion of tourism in that region. I find this organized site for Sundarbans: http://www.indianwildlifeportal.com/...onal-park.html Last edited by somnath : Sep 6th, 2005 at 16:22. |

lots of informations with lack of facilities and still it is not favourable to visit - if you think you can really visit the jungle. only a boat trip etc. can see some deers and monkeys. but you can enjoy the vast water and the confluence with unforgettable sunset. much more interesting than the jungle and Royal Bengal Tiger.
