Hi friends,

I am very new to travelling and hence a bit confused about selecting the right nature resort in Gorumara. I will be travelling on 3rd June to 5th June, 2012. I found these some nature resorts there but want your opinion regarding their reviews (if any. please!).
1. Silver Ridge Resort
2. Panchavati Forest Resort
3. Aranyak The Ca-Cur-Badi Forest Resort
4. TUSKERS DEN FOREST RESORT
5. The Green Castle

Among these TUSKERS DEN FOREST RESORT is much cheaper compared to others. I am tight in budget, so only your opinion can help me.

Thanks

I stayed at SILVER RIDGE RESORT, LATAGURI, some time back. Only recently I had recommended this accommodation to one of my son's friends. He also liked it. I would say that this Resort is okay under budget class. I have no idea about the others.

@ Ranajay

Silver Ridge is a very good resort as Ashis Da told.

Green Castle and Tuskers Den are on the main road. The second one is just opposite of Lataguri Nature Interpretation Centre from where the forest entry permit is being issued.Panchvati Resort is good it is just after crossing the locality area.

Ca-Cur Bari Resort is near Murti, location wise good, but budget is quite high.

You can try another resort "Banabitan".It is located 2 km inside the forest, and from room you will be able to see the forest view.
It is a cheap hotel, no professionalism is there, but their cordiality is good like homestay.

Thank you PKanti, soumiksett and asis da for your reply!

Now I'm in another trouble! As per my tour planning, I have booked 2 nights in Lataguri and then moving to Darjeeling for 3 nights (don't know may be this is something very childish tour plan). Now suddenly the recent political issues in North is making me highly tensed whether my trip will be done!!! or not !!!

Should I change the plan to somewhere else like Bhutan or so? It's in first week of June.

I'm really confused. Don't know what to do!

well ranajoy, the first thing i would say is how many of you are travelling on this trip?if you are travelling 2 or three or just multiples of them you can have a good stay at hornbills nest, adjacent to the gorumara n.p.it is an eco tourism initiative by division 2 wildlife jalpaiguri,it will cost you 2200 for 3 persons including fooding and lodging!the dfo herself gives the booking for it!there are other better options like dhupjhora elephant camp or rhino camp which will include free visit to chukchuki tower and elephant ride but slightly on the higher side!3300 for three and 2800 for two!
otherwise if you are 4 murti is the best option in the slimmest budget!it has a 4 bedded room for just 1000,besides if you reside at murti you can get your permit from the bunglow itself!it can be booked from the wbfdc counter near hind cinema!

I am just back from dooars last week. There is absolutely no political problem over there now. Because they also understand that they need to depend on tourism for their livelihood. Dooars and Hill region is very nice now. For me – Murti FRH is the best option as it has Murti river flowing just beside it. You can see the beauty of the river and the forest from your room. I had spotted two deers and many peacocks in the early morning just opposite side of the Murti river ! And sitting on the river bed in the late evening – no word can explain it ! You may also enjoy the tribal dance in the evening just opposite the Murti FRH. Its free with any jungle safari you book . One additional advantage you will get if you stay there. Limited numbers of people are allowed to enter the jungle, and it is best to be on the first vehicle entering into the virgin forest in early morning. It gives you ample opportunity to see the animals. Murti FRH offers you both. They give tickets at 5AM, You can even book your tour previous evening. One more suggestion – donot go for Chandrachur watch tower. Jatraprasad is very nice.
3 Days left for hills is a wise decision . I would suggest you Lava or Kolakham . It is also a Heaven on this earth. I went LAVA Via gorubathan. Would never forget the scenic beauty of the pine forest . Every hair pin band will take you to a new Heaven. If GOD be real – I am sure, He stays here. Go and just enjoy. I am sure you will plan your next trip to this area just after returning from the trip.
You can book Murti FRH from 3/2 BBD BAG, West Bengal tourism office. And check the availability from WBFDC Website. If you not get booking there , there are lots of private resorts as you already mentioned .

Best Regards,
Sujit

Hi,

I have planned to visit Gorumara-Jaldapara forests in the first week of this November. But due to lack of idea regarding the localities, I'm unable to frame a proper plan of where to stay for how many days, what is the main attractions in Jaldapara- Gorumara,
about the safaris inside these national parks etc. I would start at early hours on 8th November from Siliguri and like to come back Siliguri on evening of 11th November.

So please help me to chalk out a plan for my visit.
