Sandakphu trek accommodations

Hi,

I m planning to do the Sandakphu/Singalila Ridge trek suggested by Lonely Planet: Manebhanjang -> Tonglu -> Sandakphu -> Phalut -> Rammam -> Rimbik
I d like to start this trek on Sat Oct 20, 2007.
Is it necessary to book accommodations in advance?..i prefer to keep my options open..but then again I don't want to be sleeping outside in the cold.. ....from my understanding Phalut is the only location where I possibly need to book in advance.

Opinions please!

Thumbs up Sandakphu

Hi,
Welcome to West Bengal.

Sandakphu is a beautiful place and October is good time (clear sky and lovely view. I don’t think you’ll be able to see flowers this time) for the trail. Tunglu is Ok…. But Tumling is better I mean the staying option is better at Tumling. Moreover it saves a few KM of repeat journey. I would request you to search for Sandakphu in this West Bengal section, I am sure you’ll be able to find ALL therequired info regarding this trip.

Wish you a very happy trekking.

Hi Somnath,

Thanks for the response. I ve gone thru ALL the threads re: sandakphu already and was unable to find my answer. I know DGHC has huts all along the route. I know you can make reservations for these huts. I don't know if I absolutely need to make reservations(and if I do at which locations). And that is the reason for my posting. Thanks!

But Tonglu offers one of best views of the Kanchenjunga range. It is one of my favorite places. ALthough you have to cover about 4 km extra, and of that 2 km is steep.
