Sandakphu & phalut in january first week

Hi,

I was planning a trek to Sandakphu & Phalut from Maneybhanjyang in january first week ...I found information about Sandakphu from this forum and also was able to gather a lot of information from the various posts.

I still wanted to confirm a few details before I can land up in Maneybhanjyang.

1. Is jan first week do-able for the trek, does the whether permit the trek in this time.
2. Can we land up in Maneybhanjyang and find a guide there. Or do we need to book in advance.

3. Do we need to book huts along the trail in advance? 6. Is there any other inputs you can provide...

1. You can expect heavy snow. Hence adequate gears and required skill is what we need.

2. Jan is not a busy time. So, no need to book in advance.

3. Same as #2.

How about Jan last week. Will there be lot of snow ? I have been to Sandakphu in Dec 2006 and it was very cold.

I trekked out to phalut last january(middle) and the weather was pristine,albeit a little cold. Weather during january can be hit or miss-in 1995(January) trekked through snow to Sandakphu but did not attempt Phalut, so even if snowing you should be able to get through to Sandakphu. No need to book accomodation, first come best dressed but usually very quiet in January. Can get giudes etc in Manebahchang no problems.
