SAMSING INFO - need help from you all friends

Dear All,

Can somebody clear me whether Samsing and Suntaleykhola in Dooars , WB are the same spot ? WBFDC told that they have accomodation at Suntaleykhola and both are same place. I Doubt.

If anybody has any info on Samsing staying accomodation whether govt or private please help me with contact nos.

My wife, myself and my daugther (4yrs) want to visit the place in october.

WBFDC has 2 types of accomodation in suntaleykhola. Normal resort & river camps. But in Samsing there are no separate wbfdc resort operational at the moment. i guess earlier there used to be a wbfdc resort out there in samsing but currently it is closed. these are 2 very nearby places

!. WBFDC indeed had a Forest Rest House at Samsing. I had stayed there for 2 nights. It was an old property, but maintained in immaculate condition! The Caretaker (I forgot his name) was an excellent cook! But when I checked WBFDC website, I find that though this property is still listed there, but all the rooms/suits are shown "under maintenance". Don't know the reason.

2. Sunthalekhola is definitely not SAMSING, but distance between the two is minimal, may be. 4-5 KM. In this sense, the WBFDC people might have told that both are same. But, as I explained above, strictly speaking the statement is not correct.

3. In my opinion, location-wise Suntalekhola property is situated at a much better location than the erstwhile Samsing Bungalow. When you will visit ROCKY ISLAND, you will have to cross the old Samsing Bungalow and you can see for yourself what ails Samsing.

Samsing burnt out by Gorkhaland movement. WB govt has only one suntalekhola in this area.

Also can you please suggest where to stay another 2 days on this route ?????? we are going for 4 days during durga puja holidays.

How about Jhallong river Camp ? is there any accomodation ? any contact no. there will help a lot for me. Is it safe to stay there with my 4 yrs old daughter and wife ???

My tour itenary in from 20th oct to 23rd oct.

I have decided to stay at

Suntaleykhola -- X2 days = 20 & 21 (WBFDC)

and next 2 days not yet decided between Jhallong river camp or Rocky Island.

Please help me out. Phone nos will be of immense help for next two destination.

No idea about Jhallong River Camp. But Jallong happens to be close to Jaldhaka. That's all I know.

Is it possible to reach Samsing from Chalsa or New Mal by Public Transport like bus or anything else?

I had seen private bus plying between Chalsa and Samsing. I'm not sure whether these buses starts from Chalsa or from Mal bazar or from some other place. But Samsing has a Bus Stand, where these buses terminate their journey. I am not aware whether Mal Bazar is connected by public bus service with Samsisng. There may a bus or two on this route also. But what I don't know at all is timings and frequencies of these buses.

nikon, Rocky Island will be nice for October..... you'll love it. There are Ph. nos. too

There is bus stand at New Mal... you have to go there by auto from rali Station (Rs. 5/-). Public bus, shared jeep or other cars are available there for Sumsimg. Bus fair may vary from Rs. 25-30 /-. Different sizes of buses are there.
