Quick Getaway

Hi!! Everybody I Was Looking For A Getaway For Five Days In And Around Kolkata. I Opted For Daringbari In Orissa But Later Came To Know About The Riots Going Around There. Can Anybody Suggest A Good Place To Visit With Family, Say A One Night Journey From Kolkata.

Digha - sea beach
Bakkhali
Sunderbans (requires 3 days )
Puri(again in Orissa)
Murshidabad(Ancient ruins / Only Hazarduari Palace is intact & preserved)
Shantiniketan (Esp festival time) -> nice place a University town actually with a few places to see around
Bankura-Bishnupur ->
Ghatshila

for weekend retreats.

most of these above places will be too much for 5 days. So one can combine these and make a trip.

Look at the map of Orissa yaar and sharpen your GK.Only a part of the state was disturbed.Take a one night train from Kolkata and then....Gopalpur on sea.Other option will be Barkhul,Sadpora on Chilka and Bhittar Kanika if you love forest.
No tension there I can assure.

Correct. Orissa is a big state and lots of other places to visit. Just like Puri , overnight journey will take one to Bhubaneswar. One can visit Nandankanan, KhandaGiri,Udaygiri in addition to the places mentioned before. Chilka Lake is one of the best spots to visit in Spring.

I CHANGED MY TOUR PROGRAMME & SETTLED FOR A NORTHERN TRIP,I AM OPTING FOR PEDONG/LAVA/RISHYAP & RIMBIK FROM NJP. HAVE ONLY 5DAYS 2 COVER IS IT POSSIBLE ? HOW DO I ACCESS RIMBIK FROM PEDONG IS THERE AN ENROUTE VIA KALIMPONG?

Dear Somnath,
I Have Cancelled My Tour To Pedong Due To Recent Problems Of Gjm You Will Be Seeing On Tv. So Before You Go To Pedong Go Trough The News Channel.
Also It Will Be Appreciated If Can Suggest Any Other Getaways For 5 To 4 Days.
