Dear friends,

I have finalised my trip to Dooars in end May, 2011. The schedule is as follows.

Day 1 - Njp Boarding Train (Kanchankanya)
Day 2 - Booked Barodabri Malongi Lodge (wbfdc) - visit Chilapata.
Day 3 - Booked Hollong Bungalow - Just watch wildlife.
Day 4 - Morning elephant ride. Go to Murti wbfdc (booked) in the
afternoon. As I have done both Gorumara and Chapramari
before I would prefer to go to Medhla.
Day 5- Booked Jhallong River Camp. Plan to go to Bindu.
Day 6 - Booked LAVA.
Day 7 / Day 8 - Board train from NJP.

Though I have been to Dooars a couple of times earlier I have only travelled in the Gorumara Chapramari Samsing area.

Can anyone please tell me the way to travel (that is mode of conveyance) from Barodabri - Hollong; Hollong - Murti. From Murti I plan to book an exclusive car. Can anyone suggest a good Driver / car with contact no.We are 4 adults and 2 kids and would require a big car.

Any other suggestion regarding the above tour will be welcome.

For going to Hollong from Baradabri you can easily book an SUV(Sumo) or a Maruti Omni. The management people at Malangi lodge are quite helpful and they should be able to arrange the vehicle for you. It's an hour drive to reach hollong lodge from Baradabri.

I have just finished my trip to Duars, WB. The complete programme is as follows:

day 1: From Sealdah to New Mal Jn. by Kanchankanya Exp. at 8.30 PM
Day 2: Reached New Mal Jn. at 9.30 AM, Start for Suntalekhola (WBFDC) by vehicle. It wil take around 1.30 hrs. Cottage Suntale-7, Suntale-8 was booked early within the nice campus with forest around. Very beautiful nature with silence.
[Pls. note that all the cottages are in one campus, Suit1 & 2 are in different place at a distance of 200 metre from the cottages]
Day 3: Suntalekhola to Murti (Banani), WBFDC by Sumo, will take 1 hrs. via chalsa. Staying in Banani is a very nice experience beside river murti, rooms & campus is also very good. We make evening trip(4.30-7.30pm) to Chapramari forest by zipsy (available from Banani). After charmari forest safari one Nepali dance program (with tea) is an added bonus.
Day 4: In the early morning we opt for Goruma Forest safari ( 6AM) by zipsy. Back at 9 am. Raom around murti river.
Day 5: We made a tour to Jaldhaka, Jhallong, Paren and Bindu. Is is better to stay at Paren (WBFDC).
Day 6: After check out from Banani, we start for Barodabri (Malagi lodge, WBFDC), it will take 2.30 hrs. to reach. Made Chilapata forest safari by jeep. It was a fantastic experience to visit chilapata with dipak(driver at barodabri). Driver and guide both are very friendly. The forest is simple great and more over it is stilll virgin. Not many tourist opt for it. But pls do visit chilapata.
Day 7: Early morning trip to Jaldapara forest from malangi. It will take 30 mins to reach at Jaldapara Tourist lodge (WBTDC) from where the zipsy safari starts with guide. Its a 1 hr trip. One can opt for Elephant safari also. Back at malangi at 10 AM. At 3 Pm we start for a short trip to Phuntsoling (bhutan) for 4 hrs. Actually within 30 mins you can reach bhutan thru Harimara-Jaigaon.
Day 8: Morning free, return journey from Hasimara stn (5 kms from Malangi) by Kanchankanya at 5.30 PM. towards Sealdah.

[Among the four forests: Gorumara, Chapramari, Chilapat & Jaldapara, we choosed CHILAPATA is the best]

Hi Tourist 1!

You can try: Mr. Amal Karji, 9635659711. Has Maruti Omni. Amal is also attached to Malangi Lodge. I have used his services recently. He is good, but mild bargaining would be necessary.

Hi,

I have planned to visit Gorumara-Jaldapara forests in the first week of this November. But due to lack of idea regarding the localities, I'm unable to frame a proper plan of where to stay for how many days, what is the main attractions in Jaldapara- Gorumara,
about the safaris inside these national parks etc. I would start at early hours on 8th November from Siliguri and like to come back Siliguri on evening of 11th November.

So please help me to chalk out a plan for my visit.
