Hi Mousom,
Welcome to indiamike. Accomodation here is basically dormitory type. Will will get accodomation facility at Maneybhanjan, Meghma, Tonglu, Tumling, Gairibus, Kalipokhri, Sandakphu, and Phalut. DGHC Trekkers Huts are affordable and okay. Contact for booking: Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council Office (DGHC) ITDC Office 4 Shakespeare Sarani Kolkata Phone: (033)22821715 DGHC have trekkers huts at Maneybhanjan, Tonglu, Gairibus, Sandakphu, and Phalut. In other places, you will get private lodges at almost the same charges. Among these, the Tonglu Trekkers Hut is at a very good location and is a favorite of mine. Start from Maneybhanjan to Tonglu, then Tonglu to Kalipokhri, and then Kalipokhri to Sandakfu. |

I went there in March 2001 and the dormitory cost was Rs.40 per bed per day. Egg meal cost Rs. 40. We stayed at Sandakfu and Tonglu trekkers hut. At Kalipokhri, we stayed at a private hotel which also took the same charge from us. I recent charges may have gone up a bit. you can ring on the number given my me and confirm. regards, Bhaswaran |

Hi Bhaswaran
Thanks for the update. My plan was some thing like, NJP to Maney bhanjan(night stay) then to Tumling, and gairibas(night stay) OR juabari( Night stay), then to sandakphu(night stay) then to gurdum(night stay). Actually I am planning a three day treck, two days uphill and one day down hill.. Is that too much hectic? If we stay the night in tonglu, then the second day will be very hectic, i suppose. and hence I am looking for a little more stretch on day one... The trackers huts do have dormitories i think, We are looking for personal lodges if possible. Can some one provide some contacts for booking personal lodges, on the way. Thanks again Regards |
