Need help in planning vacations for Darjiling-Gangtok....

Hi,
Please help me in this...

We are planing our vacations between 22nd May09 to 31st May09 at Darjiling-Gangtok-Shillong etc..
How should plan these days in these places?
We have temp like folloing:
Day 1. On 21st fly to Kolkata from Mumbai and stay kolkata.
Day 2. Kolkata Site seeing and leave at night to New Jaipaigudi using Darjiling Mail.
Day 3. Leave New Jaipaigudi in the morning towards Darjiling. We will reach there in the evening.
Day 4. Darjiling Site seeing
Day 5. Leave Darjiling in the morning to Gangtok
Day 6. Gangtok Siteseeing
Day 7. Leave for Nathalla Pass, Chamku lake, Baba Mandir and return to Gangtok
Day 8. Leave Gangtok to New Jaipaigudi via Siliguri (Visit China Market) Leave NJP in the Night to Guwahati.
Day 9. We will reach Guwahati at 6 AM. Local Siteseeing
Day 10. Guwahati -- Shillong -- Cherapunji Return to Guwahati
Day 11. Buffer Day
Day 12. Leave Guwahati to Mumbai.

Note. Here we have planned Flight Jorney from Mumbai to Kolkata and Guwahati to Mumbai. However it will be over our budget. So we will cancel one flight jorney and will go by train.

I have following querries:
1. How should we plan here? I think this may be little Hectic. As we have not planned for rest days
2. If we cancel Guwahati How can we those extra days ?
3. Which is preferable Darjiling or Kalimpong?
4. PLease let me know any sacred places as I am very much interested in visiting old Temples.
