The day came finally when we boarded Darjeeling Mail which departed timely at 10:05 pm from Sealdah station. In the morning we realised, train is 1 hour late.

We had booked a car from kolkata which took us to Darjeeling from NJP.
It was there waiting outside NJP station. We did not waste time in NJP any more and started towards Darjeeling.

On the way our driver stopped at a beautiful small hill side Dhaba for breakfast.
We were served hot puri sabji ,a plate of Momo and tea. All were delicious.

Weather was nice ... bright sunny sky, cool breeze and nice views..we were happy. Old ones got their eyes close to get a short nap. I was alert and engulfed with the views.
I tried to take photos on the run.

We proceeded via Rohini Road...which is well in condition but enough steep and having zigzag turns. I felt a little sick after some time. :P So I relaxed on my back and tried to take rest by closing eyes. It made me feel better. With in 3.5 hours, we reached Darjeeling and took a few time to reach our homestay, Revolver, which is uphill through Gandhi Road.

It was cold in Darjeeling but we found our rooms very cozy and exceptionally clean.
Every bed had electric blanket and it helped to have good sleep at night.

In the afternoon we stroll up to Mall. Some of us rested in the Mall seats and rest of us walk up to
Observatory hill and Mahakal temple. There were trees all over and weather became foggy... so could not get
much nice view from there.

Then we took a walk round the foggy Mall road ... and it was not a short one... evening set in already.

We get back to others waiting on the Mall, as sun disappeared it was getting colder outside.

To get tea and snacks we went to Keventer but as it was cold no one wanted to sit on the open roof top. We had Darjeeling tea and sandwich there. The shop has retained the old vintage charm all over.

This is the entrance of our rooms in Revolver .. liked it much.

You found rohini road steep!!that is the least steep road to darjiling.you should try pankhabari road or the old military road sometimes.

Ha ha ha... .. I know, that is why I laughed at me.

I don't know why ...Actually I hate why I feel sick some times when going by car through such uphill zigzag roads... Its better to walk up

And that time if I try to rest and take a nap... the sickness leaves.

As planned earlier, we had to go Tiger Hill next day. We talked with a few
cab drivers in the taxi stand and finalized one for the next day site seeing.
We were ready sharp at 3:30 am in the morning but our car did not reach timely.
After a few phone calls, ultimately driver reached around 4 am. I was afraid
if we would get a good place for seeing the sunrise in Tiger hill !
The road was not good and mist was all around.

We bought 1st floor tickets. But reaching there found not a single seat is left and already people are standing and all suitable corners of the room are preoccupied. The whole place was very crowded. I was very much anxious - from where we will be able to see sunrise? Me with my husband roam all over for a place from where we can see the magic show properly. Ultimately found and managed a place for me right under the sky (in misty cold) among a few Korean gentlemen by the railing.
My husband then took others down one level and placed in a balcony (under shade).
Then wait... wait and wait.

When we reached, the sky was pitch dark and studded with lakhs of sparkling stars. We knew the sunrise time was 5:53 am. As the time approached sky was getting more and more light.

Suddenly we got to see a pale mountain structure in the sky just opposite direction.
The majestic Kangchenjunga was making her appearance... slowly but steadily
shedding off the clouds and fogs... the peaks were appearing larger and larger and clearer and clearer.
Excitement was increasing with it.

I was not seeing the sunrise part of the sky any more. Mount K attracted me like magnet ! Repeatedly I had to wipe off the lens,
as moist made the lens hazy.

Suddenly the tip of the peak seemed a little pink .. I looked at opposite, no till then sun is not visible,
but the sky was brighter and mixed with red and pink colors.

The little pink on the tip started increasing...became more prominent.. became orange in color...
flowed down gradually downwards to cover the body...Oh I was shivering.. not due to cold but excitement.

The mass of crowd suddenly shouted with joy...Yes, on the opposite direction, sun has appeared a little.
And very quickly it went upwards and the full fire circle became visible. It was a great magical show of nature.

Now the Mountain range was dazzling in golden rays.
