Thanks everybody... was off from net for few days and got late in answer. The options we liked most is Kechki, Kiriburu & Daringbadi. Is it possible and advisable to take our car there? What about the situation there now?

We are also thinking of visit to BUXA-Jayanti. during monsoon would it remain open? or is there any other problem?

Kechki - Jharkhand (Daltongaunj District)
Kiriburu - Jaharkhand (Singhbhum District. District HQ is Chaibasa)
Daringbari - Odisha, near Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.

Week end trip for all the 3 places is simply not possible. You better concentrate one at a time. Taking personal vehicle is not advisable. First reason: it's monsoon, 2nd reason: there are some issues pertaining to law & order in these areas. Personal vehicle would attract attention, hence might become the target.
Jayanti-Buxa: Forest is closed during monsoon, but otherwise Jayanti has its own beauty during monsoon. Again, it will not be an week end trip.

I had heard about Monchasa Project. But it is not located in the district of Burdwan, it is located on the banks of Bagda River in the remote village of Paushi, in East Midnapur district(near Contai, I think). It is appox. 130 KM away from Kolkata. Contact details: email: monchasha@gmail.com website: www.monchasha.com
Hope, this helps.

Another good accommodation at Maithon is West Bengal Tourist Lodge, its really situated on a hill top, and the road goes to lodge is very beautiful.Hotel Santinibas is a very good private accommodation there just beside the dam.

Recently I visited Maithon and the place has become not so nice. It is surrounded with local public, loud music.. greenry has alos gone. Shanti Niwas, Majumdar Niwas and other hotels are also no so good and the are charging so much. I dont wanna say, but inside Kalyaneshwwari Temple, all are running business and that puja atmosphere has gone. If you like to pay heaviliy, wanna heard loud music, enjoy humid and hot temp, and fight at the temple..you can go for Maithon.

Better option is Monchasa Project. I am planning to go in monsoon..to see rainy season at villages of west bengal.

For booking information of DVC GH: 033-23332115, but for booking, you have to go their office at Ultadanga, and I don't know whether you can get booking in such a short notice... I found them booked all the time, even before two months.

For Shanti Nivas : 033-24404384.

As asishda said rightly, neither Kechki-Kiriburu-Daringbari nor Jayanti-Bauxa are fit for monsoon weekend tour

WB State Fisheries has three GHs - in Jamuna dighi (in Burdhaman, near Valki Machan, Deul, at Henri Island (near Bakkhali) and in Udaypur beach (near Digha). I found Jamuna dighi good for spending monsoon weekends in group. Here is Ph. No. 033-23376470.

For WB Tourism Dev. Corp: 033-22437260/44012659.

Massanjore is also good and the Irrigation lodge is better there. Ph : 033-23212259.

aamar payer tolai sorshe...(I have wheels under my feet)
