(First 1 day staying in darjeeling and after that 2 day in Lepchajagat) Can anybody please help with the itinerary or with the detailed infos regarding places to see around lepchajagat ....we booked WBFDC resort in lepchajagat for 2 days.

1. what type of transport is available from Darjeeling to Lepchajagat and froam Lepchajagajt to NJP?

2.How is the food in WBFDC guest house in Lepchajagat?

3. what are the places to see around lepchajagat?

4. Since we have only 1 day in darjeeling (11th may noon to 12 th may noon)what are the must seeplaces in Darjeeling that we can make it.

5. suggest good hotels in Darjeeling but not too expensive (i mean below 800)

Please help

Darjeeling to Lepchajagat: Come to the Darjeeling Bus Stand and get the share jeep service to Sukhiapokhri and tell the driver to drop you at Lepchajagat FRH...even if he drops you on the road, it is just 1 min.

ON returning, you can come back all the way to Darjeeling...athough getting a seat will be tough from Lepchajagat. One day go to Sukhiapokhri jeep stand and book a car (we did that as they are bargainable than the Darjeeling ones)....for the returning day, to pick you up from Lepchajagat after lunch and travel the Jorpokhri-Mirik road amost the beautiful tea gardens down to NJP....I can assure it will be memorable as it is very beautiful. A Marunti Omni took Rs. 800 from us from Lepcha to Mirik....it will cost a little more to NJP, Rs. 1500-2000. Do bargain at Sukhia.

The food at Lepcha is great. We enjoyed it. Hope the same cook is there. You will find no other eateries there. It is a remote village with awesome views of forest, sky, stars, moon, and Kanchenjunga.
....life is a journey.....and the journey is more important than the destination........

There is nothing to see around Lepcha...just stay at the rooftop to see the views or roam around in the little village....there is a path up the hillock beside the FRH...try that...

In Darjeeling, I normally stay most of the time at Batasia Loop while in the evening, spend the time in Mall with my family. A walk around the Observatory Hill behind the Mall will be good.

Thanks again Bhaswaran.... You are superfast man....

How about going to Jorpokhri or Mirik from Lepchajagat? I have a very sweet childhood memories of Mirik. Is Mirik still nice? Is there any Tea garden nearby lepchajagat? Will the WBFDC rest house arranges any transport for this sort of tour?

Regarding Darjeeling we are palnning for the sunrise in Tiger hill the next morning (12th morning). Where should I contact for the transport? What is there to see in the batasia loop? How is the rock garden, Zoo and the mountaineering institute? Please advice what we must see in 1 day stay in Darjeeling....and also suggest good hotels please...

Jorpokhri will be very good. Mirik is also very nice...still retains some of the old charm...do the boating if you stay there...The road to Mirik is very rewarding. Rock garden is also nice. I personally like Batasia Loop as I like trains.....that all...

You can stay at WBTDC Lodge near Mall. It is good.

To Moderators

To Moderators: Please put this in "Darjeeling" or "West Bengal" section.

Lepchajagat is in Darjeeling district, approx 10-12 km from Darjeeling.

Mod Note:
I have shifted this thread to the West Bengal forum.

Reurned from a very nice trip to darjeeling and lepchajagat

Hi Bhaswaran, sagarneel and other IM friends,

We just returned yesterday morning from a very nice trip to Darjeeling and Lepchajagat. Thanks all for your suggestions and best wishes. The weather was just superb.... sunny and cold... a bit windy increasing the chill factor... We could see the sunrise all three days(1 day from Tiger hill and 2 days from lepchajagat) and Kanchenjungha was again at its best....I was very happy to see that darjeeling still retains some of its old charm... But above all the West Bengal Forest Dev Corpn's Resort at Lepchajagat is just awesome.... The view of the himalayas, sunrise from the rooftop, location of the resort in the lap of nature surrounded by jungle , delicious mouth watering foods, cozy rooms and the friendly hospitality of the staffs are just unforgettable.... I will definitely recommend to all IM friends have a 2 night stay in the resort.... Its worth visiting....

Hi All,

Ive made a succesful trip to Lepchajagat & Darjeeling peacefully. Lepchajagat is a pleasant place to stay back for 2 days max. Relax & Relax. But the time we selected is full of mist and clouds all over the place 24x7. No majestic views of himalayas specially my favourite Mt.Kanchenjunga which this place boast is meant for but due to the wrong time selection. The place is surrounded with dense forest with only the WBFDC standing alone. No vehicle horns, No markets...nothing at all. The only person there is you and the WBFDC caretaker/personal. Caretaker Mr.Vijay Kumar Tamang(9474584925)is a very kind person and helpful. You get full attention from all the person there in the guest house. All of them are very very helpful. There are around 30 residence there in Lepchajagat. Its a very small Hamlet. But this time around its something romantic feeling with clouds all over the place and ofcourse you and pine trees all around you with a majestic look. Overall Lepchajagat is Fabulous/superb/astounding/romantic/errie/heaven........
The next day we went to Jorepokhri just 5.5 km away from Lepchajagat. 2/3 standby Maruti Van is available 24x7 there of locals. Jorepokhri is too good to be. Superb selection of place by DGHC. its in the top of a Hill and the view is awesome. But again no mountain ranges due to clouds and mist. But i swear the view will be amazing, awesome, mesmerizing, heavenly during clear weather i.e,Sep - Nov. We loved feeding those Swans in the pokhri. This is the ideal time to see the special attraction of jorepokhri i.e Salamander fish. its a colourful fish. Full of blooming flowers around. Again Overall this place too is superb. Again this is also calm & pleasant place to be for 2 days max. Next we visited Sukhia on way back to lepchajagat. This is also a very small town with few shops. The next day we travelled to Darjeeling for 2 days and back to Kolkata. Darjeeling was as nostalgic as usual. The crowd was less (thanks to disturbances). We spend a jolly good time there.

Will be posting the photographs in a few days.

i like the pic of the smiling flower in red and blue, standing on her feet in front of the cottage door at Lepcha, amidst other flowers in earthen pots.

The misty (also read it as sweet in Bengali) photos are also lovely.

Yes you are right.Shared jeep till Ghoom and from there a cab to Lepchajagat.Alternatively you can book a cab directly from NJP to Lepchajagat. It takes Rs.2500 approx. The best rooms in the resort are Suite 1 and Suite 2.
