Dear All,

I would like to know regarding budget options (hotels or home stay) for stay in and around Lava and Neora valley national park in mid-November. Also it would be great to know if i would get any car/bike on rent in Lava Bazaar.

I will be travelling with a friend of mine for Birdwatching but am in a dilema as i couldnt find any budget stay options/ home stay options anywhere (except for WBFDC at Lava which i feel is a somewhat on a higher side).

Please help....

Regards
Prasanna Parab,
Margao Goa.

According to me the best place to stay in Neora Valley National park is Red Panda of Jalpaiguri forest dept. You can try that. I do not know any homestay at Lava but there are some at Charkholey, Nimbong etc. But I know some homestays at Chatakpur at Senchal WLS.I believe this is also great place for birdwatchers.

Hi Prasanbirds,
I visited LAVA in April, 10. I observed - there are few small lodges/hotels available in LAVA bazaar. These are cheap on bargain. Also small restaurants/hotel serve for food; Orchid hotel is good for food.
You may visit below link to have a view of LAVA locality, in this area you can find out private cheap accommodation.

Also you can avail accommodation in Neora Valley National park, it is Red Panda of Jalpaiguri forest dept as said by BBAKSHI.

There is a place named Chatakpur where there is some arrangements of homestay. I came to know when I was in Gorumara in May. Mr. Bhattacharya showed me some beautiful photographs of that place and mentioned how they are working on the home stays there. You can ask him the details and ask for the photographs. His ph no is 09163946981

Dear Prasan, Recently I visited a tourism fair in kolkata and find more forest destination in north Bengal which is great for birding. One is Khutimari and I forgot other names. You can spend in those area too while going there.
