What's not nice about it as per your book? Just curious because if we know what could be putting you off, we can reassure or confirm

From what I remember, it's a charming, picturesque, and for the most part, tranquil place and good for a 1/2- even 2 day visit. Much more than that, unless you're a real outdoorsy type can maybe be too much esp if you're limited in terms of time. I spent a lot of time in Darjeeling so included Kalimpong & Kurseong in those trips. Parts of the town can be rather grubby but to me the mountains and natural beauty made up for it.

Bottom line - depends on what you like to do b/c if you enjoy trekking and natural beauty, there's plenty of it there. Also river-rafting in the river Teesta. Beautiful Buddhist monasteries, orchid and cacti nurseries to visit.

I personally like cooler weather so I like it form that point of view too. Can be too foggy and/or rainy for some people, so time of yr can be very important. I like fog and rain, snow as well so it didn't bother me but I can see why some wouldn't

For people looking for a Goa-type experience, Kalimpong ain't for them <shrug> Don't get me wrong, I love Goa too but for different reasons

For those looking for a really bustling hill station, I'd think Kalimpong would be a snooze-fest. My 2 cents.
