Question Kalimpong - Pedong - Lava - Rishap - Lolegaon

Hi,

We are planning to visit Kalimpong, Pedong, Lava, Rishap and Lolegaon in coming January (from 03.01.2010 to 08.01.2010) with friends. We have already made our tour planning but I need some expertise comment on the itinerary and I will do modifications as required.

My plan is as below:

03.01.2010: From NJP to Kalimpong
04.01.2010: From Kalimpong to Pedong then return to Kalimpong
05.01.2010: From Kalimpong to Lava
06.01.2010: Lava to Rishap then return to Lava
07.01.2010: Lava to Lolegaon
08.01.2010: Lolegaon ti Siliguri (via Kalimpong or Gorubathan)

I'll be grateful if any friend give me site seeing details for the above places and an idea of appox. expenditure for this trip excluding hotel accomodation expenses.

Thanx.

Just modify ur itinerary a bit..Pedong is a place worth spending a night or two...Give it a thought..Offcourse for that ur total no. days would increase....The same for Rishyap also....Stay there(if possible) for atleast two nights. For Lava u need not spend more than a night...But again,Lolegaon is worth two nights stay.

Just give a thought....Best wishes for a wonderful stay at some wonderful places in Bengal.

Cheers...

Hi Swarup,

Be ready for sub zero temperature @0 to -2 deg Centigrade in Rishoyp at night and early morning. But u will be mostly indoor in those times ... so......forget about the tempeartures and enjoy ur trip and the majestic Kanchenzonga from Rishyop ....Off course take sufficient wollens along.

The trek path to Rishyop from Lava is very picturesque....Do not miss it.

As per my knowledge Changey falls is at West Sikkim. Spend 1 night at Pedong. If possible spend 1 day in Aritar also.

Pedong,Rishi is all well but do stay at Rishop coz u can get a 360degree view of quite a few ranges and ofcourse at night stars twinkling on the hills is an amazing view.manage one night at rishop.hotel Kanchan-view is a good option.contact no. can be given if necessary.

If you have heart for extreme cold and the torist spot to yourself, you may consider spending a night at Rishyap. You will get total solitude sub zero temperature will possible ground frost and very few tourists around that period. Hotel Sonar Bangla (1st floor room Nos. 1 & 2 have fantastic view of Mt. Kanchenghanga and the entire range, which, being a freuqent traveller to that area, I have not seen from anywhere else

Just as an addendum, I have been to Lava and Rishyap this year second week of Jan and enjoyed the solitude of Rishyap. Lava has now become too commercial and crowded, not a place, far from the madding crowd, which it was even 4 years back, when I visited Lava last.
