how to reach Lava & Lolegaon

I am planning to go Lava & Lolegaon and Ryshop on June for 6 days.
Can Any one give me a guide line.... like.....
How to reach Lolegaon from Njp ?
Is there Share Taxi will be availlabe that time ?

If I book a rental car .....what would be the rate?

1. How to reach Lolegaon from Njp ?
Ans. Nearest rail station to Lolaygaon is not NJP, it is New Mal Jn. Kanchankanya Exp from Sealdah Stn touches this Station. However, if you have already booked your ticket upto NJP, then you have these options:
a) Hire an exclusive car from Prepaid Taxi Booth at NJP Stn and reach Lolaygaon via Kalimpong;
b) Avail share taxi upto Kalimpong and then from K'pong take a cab to reach Lolaygaon;
c) There could be some direct buses from Siliguri to Lolaygaon (very few, I don't have much idea). You have to come to Siliguri Bus Stand and enquire there.
One more thing. There are two routes to reach Lolaygaon from NJP. One is via Gorubathan, Lava etc. (longer route) and other is via Kalimpong (shorter route).

Share taxi (direct to Lolaygaon) would be difficult. I have not seen any. If you want to go by share taxi, catch one upto Kalimpong and then a cab, or share taxi or bus from there depending upon the situation.
3. If I book a rental car .....what would be the rate?
No idea about the current rate. But I think it would be around 2K (?)

But if MASTERSAM is lucky enough to get some co-passengers to Lolegaon from NJP, he may manage a share taxi...


Or the break journey, as you suggested.


Current rate for NJP-Lolegaon is 2000/- ... you are right once again.

One day I like to stay in MIRIK
Is it possible to come MIRIK from Ryshop ....by bus or rented car ?

1. There is no bus service at Rishyap. Nearest place to Rishyap from where you will get bus is Lava and I don't think there will be any direct bus to Mirik from Lava. You have to change at least twice or thrice to reach Mirik. Check at Lava.
2. There is no regular share taxi service from Rishyap to Mirik either.

Lava & Lolegaon 3 nights.
Ryshop 2 nights.

Where should I stay ONE DAY if I dont like to stay Kalingpong.

Because my brother-in-law discouraging me about Kalingpong. How Kalingpong is ?Is there any alternative location where stay One
night ?

When your bro-in-law is discouraging you, it is difficult for me to recommend Kalimpong. But, personally speaking, Kalimpong is not bad for 1 N stay. It has quite a few view points. Besides, at Kalimpong you can see largest and widest collection of cactus and flowers. The city boasts of finest Nurseries of the country. Besides, it has one of the best residential schools in the county (Grahams' Home) . The town has a long tradition of bakery products. Not bad, buddy! But try to stay at a place away from the main town center. The other nearby option is Pedong. The place is comparatively less touristy, quit and not crowded. The third option is: Get down from the hills to Gorubathan and spend one night at WBFDC Lodge flanked by tea gardens. The fourth option would be: drive down further, reach Lataguri (via Gorubathan, Mal etc.) and make a trip to Gorumara Wild Life Sanctuary. From Lataguri proceed directly to NJP/Siliguiri. It would take appox 3 to 4 hours max.

I like go with your third option...ie..Gorubathan....and trying to book at WFDC Lodge. And plan to make a trip to Gorumara Wild Life Sanctuary.

That means 6th day night halt at WBFDC Gorubathan. Good. But if you really wish to take morning safari to Gorumara WLS, please get up quite early and proceed to Lataguri as early as possible. If you do not reach early at the ticket counter, you may not get the chance to have morning safari. The number of visitors per shift is restricted. The moment they sell off the allowable number of tickets, they close the counter. Therefore, hurry!! Best of luck!

If Temp too high then It would be tough for my

HOW FAR IT IS FROM MAIN TOWN ?

Temp at Gorubathan during June? No idea really. We were there during Oct (did't stay overnight though) and weather was quite pleasant. Why not you check this out from WBFDC Office (when you would be going there to book)?
Regarding Morgan House at K'pong, I did not stay there either. But the property looked like a heritage building..very inviting. When we first saw this building, I thought that some day I must stay here ! But, alas, that someday did not come yet. Yes, it is little far from the center of town. But, in a way, this is good, according to me. The town center is very crowded and dirty and moreover you will have to move around by vehicle, so what's the problem? Incidentally, in Kalimpong, you will get Town Taxis for short trip also.

Hi MASTERSAM, if you take the third option to stay 6th night at Gorubathan, then I feel it will be difficult for you to make the Wildlife safari on 7th, since you need to start for NJP by 11. So plan accordingly.
In addition to Ashish da's options, a fifth option could be considered. It's staying at the Dhupjhora Elephant Camp. That includes an elephant safari too. But considering only two months left for your trip, it might be difficult to get accomodation there. There is a nice article on Dhupjhora Elephant Camp here. If interested you can go through that.
