Hello kunwar and welcome to IndiaMike. You are asking about the situation with strikes or something else? Your title does not make this clear. The Darjeeling strike situation is at the moment resolved. But, if you read around the forums here on IndiaMike, you will see that you need to be prepared for last minute changes of plan. Look at the many posts on the subject in the West Bengal and Darjeeling forums.

Dear Kunwar,
The political situation is completely safe in West Bengal. I have come back last week only from my trip to Darjeeling and Gangtok. Dont worry about the conditions.. You'll have a comfortable trip... |

Hi Vineetsaini19, I am very pleased that you enjoyed your honeymoon. Wishing you every happiness for your married life!
In Darjeeling, however, the newspapers are today reporting a new round of unrest with planned hunger strikes and intensive rallies. There have been some public demonstrations (non violent) in Darjeeling. Some local politicians have just resigned. Anyone visiting Darjeeling or the hills of West Bengal should try to keep abreast of the current situation. Otherwise, I agree, it is a wonderful place to visit. |

thanks both
thank you Mrs Vineet Saini and Theyyamdancer for the replies.
Theyyamdancer, i was asking about the current situation not with regard to strikes but with regard to safety to Indians once i reach some remote parts of the Singalaila ridge. I heard that the Nepalis are a bit anti Indians nowadays, and there have been some incidents of terrorism there. My friends are joking that they will see me famous in a Nicholas Berg situation soon and I just wanted to be sure that law and order situation in the hills is ok. |
