Hotel Baharampur/Murshidabad

Hi friends,
I will be travelling to Baharampur on next Tuesday, 8th Sept for office work.Where can I stay ? Last time I stayed at White House Hotel and it was a bad experience.
Can you ppl pl suggest a decent hotel with attached bath and A/c ? Can you pl provide the tel no ?
How is Baharampur tourist lodge ? Can anyone pl provide me its tel no ? 03482 259711 - this tel no is not working.

We looked at the White House Hotel - and thought no, not for us. The Tourist Bungalow was semi-deserted, and in a pretty shabby, dusty state - close to NH34, no wonder. The staff seemed less than enthusiastic as well. The hotel we chose, and stayed at happily for three days, was the Hotel Samrat - clean, inexpensive, friendly, helpful and with an excellent if extremely dark restaurant. We hired a car there for visiting Murshidabad at a very good rate as well. It's a little out of town if you want to eat out, so you may need transport. Look elsewhere on this forum for details about the Hotel Manjusha in Murshidabad, as well an absolutely stunning location.

Another hotel that has been recommended by a colleague of mine is Berhampore Lodge (this is not the Tourist Lodge managed by WBTDC). [I have not stayed there, so no personal experience about the place.]

I will try Samrat this time, hope it would be better my White House exp last month. Would give you all feed after my return.

The ricksha wallas were mentioning Baharampur Lodge last time which I confused with the WBTDC tourist lodge.Will keep this option in mind too.

Samrat Hotel was good. Suite charge was Rs 1470/- in Sept 09.Neat and clean.Much better than my last experience in Baharampur.Its on N H 34,Panchanantala.
