Holi

Hi. I hate to be a spoil sport regarding Holi, but my health situation renders it unfortunately necessary. The festival is going on today in Darjeeling, where I am currently located, and paint is being dowsed liberally upon people--tourists included--as they roam the streets. I have a big open wound on my arm from a recent motorcycle accident, which I cannot entirely cover, except with loose clothing. I certainly don't think it would be in my health interest to have paint thrown in my wound, and I'm guessing that the stuff that is being thrown would soak right through my loose fitting clothing. So, needless to say, I am watching the festival from the window of my hotel today. But I am supposed to travel from here to Calcutta tomorrow. I have obtained inconsistent information, from the internet, regarding whether the festival continues tomorrow or is over today. Does anyone know if it will still be going on tomorrow? If so, should I defer my travels, or is there a foolproof method of avoiding the paint?

Thanks,
Todd

The festival only lasts till mid afternoon in most places when the madness ends! Tomorrow India will return to normal again. So do not worry.

I heard today that Biharis celebrate Holi tomorrow, Wed, the 12th. At least in Calcutta, they say that some will be throwing stuff. Don't know about Darjeeling. Best thing to do would be to ask the locals.

Well all over India Holi was celebrated today and it is over in the rest of India, except some parts of Kanpur and Mathura Vrindavan where it goes on for a week. Since Todd already mentioned about the festival being celebrated today then I guess we should believe him and accept that it was celebrated today and is over now.
