| Gangasagar Ganga Sagar is almost the south end of West Bengal. Where the river Ganga meets Bay of Bengal, various Islands are created . One such Island, which is the largest and sacred most is called Sagar Dweep or popularly known as Ganaga Sagar. To Hindu pilgrim's it's a very important place.Every year,14th of January a fair is arranged and million of people from all over India meet here to take the sacred bath.There is also a temple of the saint Kapil Muni,where people offer they like. The scenery of Bay of Bengal is very charming from this place.One can watch Sunrise from the beautiful beach of this Island. Ganga Sagar is 115 Km. from Calcutta . It's accessable by bus or car. The first 85km., one can go by bus to Harwood Point(Lot no. 8)from Calcutta.Then crossing the river by launch , one can reach Kanchuberia, from therethe next 30 Km. Can be coverd by bus or car. A private Hotel Larica and one youth hostel, run by West Bengal Govt. is there.Other than that lot of Dharamsala is there. |

| on 14th january its a place for devotion.... lots of crowd, sadhus, noise and litter. at other times, may be in monsoon or autum its a ice place to roam around on a weekend... for those who have not been there its worth a try this august ![]()
