That’s a difficult question. Tailors will be there but you can expect a long queue. May be you need to wait for couple of days (may be week) to get the delivery.

no problem with delivery, and its not really for me (although i may get some pants or shirts made)

but my sis will want to make some blouses etc, and she will be in kolkata during puja, but we will all leave for north bengal after dashami, and will be back for one afternoon after which we will return home.(my folks will stay on for few more weeks hence delivery is not an issue)

Its more a question of whether she will be able to put the order in, and do a trial if necessary?

calcutta during puja's is holiday time - a legit holiday that is!
hence ... any kind of work getting done during that period is a big bold 'maybe'... no guarantees.

Tailors for blouses / Shalwar suits etc. remain much more busy. I agree with Brishti – “Maybe”.
But you can try to manage.

West Bengal Tourism Dept. has announced their Durga Puja (http://www.wbtourism.com/fairs_festivals/durga.htm) packages just like previous years. I am unable to find the complete list in web (if anyone can find it… plz update here) but it has been published in local newspapers.

If anyone is interested can contact Tourism dept.

Hi,

Me and my wife just moved (less than a week ago) to Cincinnati from Dallas. Can you please guide us to a contact (website/email address, anything) as to where the durga puja is held here? My email address is prodi66@gmail.com. Your response is much appreciated. Thanks, Pradipta

I am having zero luck sending them a request through their webpage. I keep getting an error message. Does anyone have an actual email address I can use?

2009 .. Durga Puja and IPL Cricket (the new league)

Greetings:

For all the folks who wish to visit Kolkata during Pujas in 2009 and are also Cricket lovers. Great news.

Next years (2009) IPL cricket schedule falls also during/around
the Durga Puja dates in 2009. If possible schedule your holidays
during that periods.

FYI ... Durga Puja is during 25Sept/09 - 29Sept/09
and IPL Cricket dates are 25Sept/09 - 11Oct/09

Keep this in mind if yu are a lover of both.
Go Kolkata Knights !!

Hi everyone,
Durga Puja 2009 is just a month away. Doesn't it feel good ? This time, that is, 'Durga Pujo Aaschhe' is the best thing for any Bengali. Let's pray there is no rain during Pujo this year. Any off-beat places anyone going to visit during the Puja holidays ? Let's hear about it.

Mahalaya is something that I wait for every year. I have some nice memories associated with my childhood Mahalaya days. And the voice of Birendra Krishna Bhadra is what can be termed as 'evergreen' - you never get bored of hearing it again and again.
