I need a suggestion from the veterans who have visited dooars. I might manage a leave of 3 days during August and was hoping to visit western dooars during the monsoon. Now, I'm aware that the national parks will be closed during this time, but I want to experience dooars in the rainy season. Keeping that in mind, I have zeroed in on putting up at murti wbfdc resort. My question is, though that forests will be closed, can I travel in the neighborhood to get a feel of the forest? If yes, then what are the areas I can explore?
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

You can have a feel of forest from WBFDC Banani itself. Just go to the other side of the Murti River and you are in Chapramari forest.
Moreover, you can go to Lataguri. The road from Tilabari to Lataguri has Gorumara NP on both the sides. Even you can go to Medhla WT which remains open throughout the year. Sighting of animals like Rhino, Bison & Deer is very common there.
If you require some more thrilling experience, go to Jayanti via Rajabhatkhawa. The 20 km road is flanked by Buxa Tiger Reserve on both the sides. Anytime you can encounter with an wild Elephant.
