Smile Destination Joropokhri-Mirik-Darjeeling

Hi,
This is Avijit from kolkata.
Me and my 3 others friends are planning to visit the hilly areas in 21-25 Jan 2012.
As this would be the first time we are travelling.I would like someone to advise us about the trip. The do's and dont's.
As of now the train tickets have been booked and we have planned to stay one day i.e 21st at mirik or Jorpokhri and the later days at darjeeling.
The hotel of darjelling i.e CTC have been booked for 22-25 but the jorohokri or mirik stays in confusion.
We are really confused where to go jorohokri or mirik ??
and neither we have got any info to book hotels from kolkata on the said place.

So ,if anyone would like to share anything about how should we plan our trip, the places to see, please feel free to advise us ...

Thank You

Avijit,
You can stay at Rangbang instead of Mirik if want something different. Search for "rangbang homestay" and you will get a few options. Jorepokhri is also very nice with great views but as you have already fixed Darjeeling, Rangbang will bring in some different flavour.

Hi Avijit,
Jan 21-25 is going to be jam packed with visitors. Well Jorpokhri has just one place of accommodation which is not available during this period. You can stay at Mirik, Motel Swiss Cottage is a good place to stay (but no restaurant facility is available). I'll recommend you to visit Manebhanjan during this time, it's the place from where you can visit Sandakphu too... Wish you a happy journey

Regards,
Debabrata B.

There is only one option of stay at Jorapukhri and this property is owned and managed by Gorkha Hill Council. I understand there is DGHC counter at Govt of India Tourist Office at 1, Shakespeare Sarani and from where you can get booking for this property. Close to Jorapukhri, there is another equally attractive place called "Lepchajagat" which offers stunning view of Mt. K. Here again, there is one one staying option only. WB Forest Dev Corprn (WBFDC) has got a nice Bungalow here and you can have it booked from their office at Subodh Mullick Square, Kolkata. You can plan your itinerary in the following order : NJP -> Darjeeling -> Jorapukhri/Lepchjagat -> Mirik (only a day visit on your way back to NJP) -> NJP. Hope, this helps.
