Smile Darjeeling at Leisure -February 2007

I have just returned from my first visit to India, I went with a UK based tour company called Darjeeling Tours Ltd. (The are part of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society in the UK)

I had a excellent time and can't wait to go back.

I will write a report of my trip in due course and of course load some photo's for you. (If I can work out how to do it)

But in the mean time take a look at some of my photo's on Fotopic. The link is http://davepriestley.fotopic.net

Gtreat photos, Steambuff ..... thanks for including one of my beloved 'Tolly club'! Of course, the ones of Darjeeling are simply fabulous. I'm so glad that the trip came up to expectations.

Somnath, I think that those 2 are my favourites as well. I am thinking of getting them, blown up and framing them.

Judi, We stayed at the Tolly on our first and last two nights, a little bit of peace amongst the chaos.

I think the trip exceeded my expectations .. I wanna go back!!

nice photos, steam. thanks for sharing them. if you'll remind me by PM, i'll send you cedric's info. may take a few days to dig it out of the post-trip morass, however.

like steambuff, i too had a great time in darjeeling and it's environs. i'd read some less-than-glowing destination reviews here, with which i now can knowledgably disagree. i also met quite a few interesting fellow travelers there, even though steambuff and i seem to have so narrowly missed one another!

my trip report will follow as well. shameful that it's taken me even this long, but re-entry's no picnic and coming back to (un)real life can be terribly unforgiving.

well, if you're typing, you're leagues ahead of me, so i suspect i already know who'll prevail in this little race. i'm focusing on pix to start, narrative afterwards, am making no real progress yet on the former - work's been pretty overwhelming since my return.

all that being said, you have now made it interesting!
