car + driver in siliguri

hello,
I will go to the west Bengal in april. I mean that the solution car + driver is the best to visit a lot without allways carry our bags.
Do you know a driver ?
is it hard to find a good driver (who don't drink alcohol, who will take us where we want and where it's interesting ?)
have I to book the car a long time ago ?
How much is it per day ? (we're five persons)
thank you.

I exactly don't know whether patronising about a car-rental service, Hotel, etc is allowed on site, so i won't name any,(you can PM me, i can you give you a mobile no,)

Though if you will be arriving by flight at bagdogra(Siliguri's aerodram) you will find lots of taxis plying, bargain hard on whichever you like,

If you can give me your budget, may be i could advise you the best car to suit your needs,

Thanks

kolkata siliguri bus services are available, sleeper class AC, and they r though comfortable overnight journey, nothing can beat the comfort of train! if u dont get train reservations then bus is the alternative good option! buses leave from esplanade in kolkata.

Thumbs up Welcome to West Bengal

I can recommend two guys. Both of them are really helpful and not alcohol addicted. Their cell nos were there with me but I’ve lost all the contact nos stored in my mobl. So extremely sorry that I cant provide you the no.
But you can try to spot them at NJP (Railway station) stand.
1. Surjel – white Maruti Omni van.
2. Sanjay – Silver color Tata Sumo (the Officer in Charge of Shiliguri PS is the owner of this car)

I understand this info is not enough but if you are planning to contact a driver on arrival, can ask for them. Once upon a time I use to visit this area quite frequently and I have very good experience with both of them.

Kolkata to Shiliguri by car will not allow you to get something extra. I mean the scenic beauty. So try to avail train journey and retain some extra energy for rest of the tour.

Somnath, I want to ask you if these contact names you gave are still available. AN can you recommend some other places around there which are worth it to visit? I would like to take a little trip there, and ic can’t really stand the train travels.

Somnath,

I will be driving from Kolkata to Bhutan during
2nd Week of May, I will take Kolkata - Panagarh-
Moregram-Malda-Siliguri-Sevok-Jaigaon Route,
I believe this is better route than Krishnanagar-
Baharampore route .

What I am looking for is a Dependable driver for my
Car from Jaigon-Paro-Thimpu-Jaigon for 4 to 5
days, Could give any recommendation or suggestions
please ?

Cheers

Hi,

Timada and chief, I am very sorry for this late reply.

Timada, you mean to say palces around Siliguri area? Well, this is the gate of northeast. There are hundreds of beautiful destinations from there. If you could inform us about the available time / approx budget etc It would be very helpful to suggest a name. And I am not sure about their availability now - it is almost 2 yrs.

Chief, yeah I came to know about the road condition and Panagarh route sounds better but I do not have any firsthand info. I was at Shantiniketan during Holi. And panagarh road is in really very good shape.

But a general message for both of you (and others too). The political condition in Darjeeling hills is not peaceful. Though the Bimal Gurung and his party is trying to assure the tourists but one of my friends is back from Sikkim trip (including Kaluk) and as per his version – “we begged to them to let our car come to NJP”. Their car was stopped at Melli.

My personal opinion is to hold on with Darjeeling. BTW, Dooars is peaceful but better to avail train route (to avoid Sevok bridge). Alipurduar / Haldibari is far away from this problem.
