Camping site. Hi, Actually I've not heard anybody to camp at Digha or Mandar Muni. In my opinion Shankarpur may be better than Digha. One can also think about Junput.Though there is no camping site as such. ![]()

Hi friend, If you wanna travel through Purulias Mataburu, Pakhi Pahar, Ajoddha Pahar, Baghmundi, Chorida etc. then you can stay at Mataburu forest rest house. There are plenty of accomodation for some group of people or for family. We share a room of a villager there. His name is Jagabondhu. His hut is just in opposite side of Mataburu forest office. If you wanna stay in tent, then you have to take permission from the authority of the forest department. There are plenty of hills for hiking. If you wanna go to Mataburu, then catch the train from Howrah-Chakradhar Pur Passenger for Barabhum (must get a reservetion). You will reach at Barabhum at morning (hopefully). Then take a trekker for Mataburu forest office (Rs 10/- per head). Thats all, you are there. Go for a early hike or ask some locals to know about the palces. Go for it, you will enjoy. Love nature, Biswarup.

I had been to Ayodhya Hills during monsoon. During rains it becomes heavenly; green all around, dense forest in streches and lush valley in the rest with occassional tribal hamlets. What is not good is villagers are really poor in this part of West Bengal. If you trek from Baghmundi up the hills you might encounter wild elephants. Many people do camping in Mataburu and also in Ayodhya hills. Cheers Rajib

Can you give us any idea about Maoist activity in that region? There have been lots of news about the Maoist militants in that part of Bengal. Are those places safe for tourists?
