Bus from Kol to NJP/Siliguri

Trains seem to be overbooked even for october. I am waitlisted around 30s i think, but i still want to check on bus tickets from Kol to NJP. Royal Cruiser appears to leave at 7 or 8pm... Any bus service which starts late in the night? Around 10/11 pm or beyond?

you can contact with SBSTC bus service at esplanade...but there may not be any bus leaving for NJP at late night....

There are many Express and Rocket bus services that originate from Esplanade bus terminal. Some common govt undertaking transport companies are...NBSTC, SBSTC, CSTC. They have different categories of bus services. At late hours mostly the Express bus services start (Non deluxe or semi deluxe).

I'd prefer you to travel by CSTC or NBSTC rocket bus service.
One important thing about these buses are that they have 2 drivers who drive alternatively during the journey...and this i feel is good for passenger safety.

friend i had checked irctc website for trains from kol to njp for last week of august and could see plenty of vacancies! so for which month you're actually looking, october? i always find a 4+ hours bus journey too tiring... anyways goodluck :-)

Can any one tell me if there are any bus service from Kolkata to Siliguri in the morning. I do not care about the type of bus.

NBSTC & CSTC have bus service in the morning for Siliguri. But, as the road condition (NH 34) is very bad, you may try for Kolkata Haldibari superfast Exp, leaving from Kolkata station @9.05 AM on Tue, Thu & Sat.

Thanks Kaushik Da, but I traveled on Guwahati express with a general ticket in Sunday. Boarded the compartment reserved for disabled persons (although I am not) up to Malda and then the RPF came in and threw us out. Went to the sleeper class and bribed the cop with 100 INR and he confirmed me a seat to NJP.

2 of my friends got a ticket with NBSTC rocket from Esplanade on Sunday. But on the evening they told them that the bus got cancelled and they arranged a non AC coach which took 18.45 hours to reach Siliguri. Learned from them that the road condition is indeed pathetic and the bus was forced to slow down.

I think I made a more pleasant journey than them.
