Thank you Sir for rekindling my memories of our visit to Baranti a few years back in December.
As we normally like to avail the night journey by train so as to get the full day at the place of visit, we had boarded the Howrah Adra Chakradharpur passenger to Adra; reaching there early in the morning we took the EMU local to Muradi. We then hired a trekker to reach the lodge beside the Muradi dam which was booked earlier. It was a single storied building with garden in front. It had two adjacent rooms with beds of concrete with an attached bath/privy.There was no electricity. The caretaker took well care of us and prepared good food out of the grocery purchased by us.
I still remember the excellent sunset by the dam.
We hired an ambassador provided by the caretaker and visited Garpanchokot,Joychandi pahar,Maithon dam and Kalyaneswari temple.Climbing up the Joychandi pahar to the temple atop was quite tough by the steep slope and loose rocks on the path. This "pahar" came to prominence after "Hirak rajar deshe" as we all know.
Baranti away from the hustle bustle of the city with a picturesque surroundings is still vivid in my memories and I shall suggest all our like-minded fellow members to visit this place specially during winter.

We have been there just prior Diwali ,
we stayed in "Palash Bari " , a nice cosy
adivasi style house in the middle of Palsh
trees.

You can enjoy nature in its best here .

Cheers

Bit to chip in , if you driving from Kolkata .

Car with High G.C. ( Such as Scorpio , Innova , Fortuner Etc ).
Follow Nh2 (Durgapur Expressway ) till Ranigunj,
Take a left turn at Ranigunj More,
Follow NH 60 - Crossover Damodar Bridge - Mejia.
From Mejia turn Toward Saltora .
From Saltora . Saltora - Raghunathpur Highway.
at Santuri - Turn right , take village road towards
Baranti .

N.B. In this route you can reach other tourist destination,
" Biharinath " , which is before Saltora.

Car with Low G.C.
Follow NH 2 - Till Niyamatpur -
Turn left - ask for Dishergarh Bridge -
following till Subhas More - Turn left
toward Muradi station / Level X-ing -
follow village road Towards Baranti .

P.S. This route you can come to
" Garpanchkot " before Subhash more.

For Train, Howrah to Asansole .
From Asansole Passenger Train to " Muradi "
then by Car/Rickshaw to Baranti.

Cheers

Presently I am abroad , not carrying the entire album,
However this adivasi hut was an Ideal Hideout for us ,
from busy daily schedule this place was a relief , we did
not move out much just spent lazy-ing outside Hut for
2 days.

While DJ and others posted most of the information , I like to post some more while I stumble upon this thread. DJ , I missed this thread for long. Though I posted few snaps and answered few queries via FB, I thought not to create another thread rather fill up the information here only.
Baranti, will be treat to eyes if you visit in Spring-Summer. Reason? well , you can trust your eyes -when I post the photos.
