Accommodation in Sandakphu

Hi Everybody,

I am planning to go Sandakphu with my family in 2nd week of December 2010. I need to know about the current accommodation facility in sandakphu. Actually I had been in Sandakphu in 2000 but at that time I was bachelor and went with my friends. It would be very helpful if any expert provide some light on the current accommodation facility in sandakphu. I have the following question in my mind.

1. Is there any room available with attached bathroom? If yes then what is the hotel name and probable room rent and contact no?

2. I have heard some news in the air that sometimes you need to accommodate some other person/s in your room if those people don’t book hotel and there is shortage of room in hotel. If this happens then I will face some problem as I will go with my family this time. I don’t have any problem if I travel alone but with family it is difficult.

3. Please provide the details of the current accommodation facility of Manebhanjan also though I have the Jiban Da’s contact no as I stayed in Jiban Da’s hotel in 2000.

I dont think you will have a problem in the 2nd week of December as it is not peak season and therefore there should not such a rush that all the lodges are fully booked up

Sherpa Chalet is the best option though a bit costly to stay at Sandakphu. Rs 500 for a double bed room with attached bathroom.
You can also get trekkers hut which is nothing but a open dormetory.
December will not be a busy season so you can easily get room accomodation.

I can give you one more suggestion to stay at Sikhar Lodge in Tumling, instead of Manebhanjan. The homely atmosphere is really great. It is not far from Manebhanjan (around 9-10km).

I had been to Sandakphu Last April along with my child and maternal uncle. It was really a nice trail one can go for. As you are going in december there will be no rush and Mr Jibon is a nice guy who will guide you all the things. Hotel Sunrise is a good option in Sandakphu.

Imahesh - Please can you tell me about the trail you did with your child and uncle? How far was it and how long did it take?
