Hello all...Request suggestions on choice of accommodation in Rishyap .. Also, at the WBTDC facility in Loleygaon, which of the cottages have the best view and vantage position... Between Loleygaon and Rishyap, what would be the essential difference.. Are the (pine) forests more pristine in Rishyap? Is Rishyap less spoilt by, say, the vagaries of unchecked tourism?
Thanks.

Dear Indetraveller,
I Have Been To Rishyap Only A Few Days Back. The Journey From Lava To Rishyap Is Very Bumpy. You Can Stay At Neora Valley Resorts Or At Sonar Bangla. Sonar Bangla Will Cost You Around Rs.1000 To Rs. 1200 Do Bargain!!. There Are Many Other Hotels As Well Ranging From Rs. 300 Upwards With All Good Facilities. You Can See The Kanchenjhanga Range From Here Unless It Is Foggy.
Have Great Journey.

Dear gde...thanks for your response...Pls. let me know the approx. tariff for cab/taxi from Bagdogra-Rishyap (did you hire a private cab, or the public transport/shared jeep).. How long would this journey take?

Could you pls. give me the website for Neora Valley Resort.. How does Neora Valley Resort compare with Sonar Bangla in terms of location, rooms, etc.. Is there another Neora Resort in Lava or are both are the same? My interest in primarily in Rishyap... How do you compare Rishyap with Lava? If trekking in pine forests is the focus, would Lava or Loleygaon score over Rishyap? Awaiting your help... Regards

Thumbs up Rishyap

Sonar Bangla – Room #1. we are just back from that area. We hired a Bolero Rs. 900 / day + fuel (8 KM / liter).
BTW, Sonar Bangla didn’t charge rent for driver – it was free.

No travel agency. Babul is the owner of that Bolero he drives the car. His contact # = 09434607466.
I’ve just uploaded some pix in album…… you’ll find the picture of that vehicle – it is in good condition. (http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...79/ppuser/4434)

Now, the comparison : Rishayp and Loleygaon is far better than Lava. Lava is just like a mrket place of hills.

- cheers.

Dear All

Me and my family are planning to visit Rishyap in the coming month. We are going to book Neora Valley Resort in this week. But before that I need to clarity about their hospitality, quality of foods and other pros and cons about that resort. Suggestion from someone who had already been there will be definitely helpful for us. Also please tell us the approximate taxi fare from Kalimpong to Rishyap and from Rishyap to NJP.

I have been to Rishap few months back. My suggestion is, stay at 'Neora Valley Resorts'. There are two cottages just beside the hill slope; where from you can enjoy the entire hilly forest view from within the room. Sun rise behind the Kanchenjunga is spendid. In Lava & Lolegaon stay in WB forest bunglows. They are on the best places in respective places. Lava Forest bunglow area is a bigger one; comprising of many small cottages. Stay in wooden Thukpa cottages near the hill slopes. Total area is covered with dense Pine jungle. In Lolegaon the same WB forest bunglow is on a hill top. Lavish wooden forest bunglow with Dining hall, large bathrooms, English style cottages, room fire place( though not operative). In Lava, Lolegaon & Rishap restaurant service is there. Order before hand with 2/3 hours time. Car is very expensive in these places. Better club two or three family for a Bolero, or Scorpio booking. Usually no tariff is less than 1200/- - 2500/- in general. Burgain heavily. Book a car from Tenjing Norgey bus stand in Siliguri to Lava. On Lava bus stand there is a car owners' syndicate, book from there, there is a chart for fares. You may hire a car from Lolegaon Forest bunglow if stay there. drivers come to see every half of the day. In Rishap Neora vally has two jeeps in the neighbourhood only. Call them to charter. happy journey.

Hi krishnendusinha2011,

First of all WELCOME to Indiamike.

In Lolegaon the best accomodation is the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation Resort. They do not book over phone, just contact at their office at Subodh Mullick Square. In Rishop two best hotels (regarding the view)is Hotel Sonar Bangla (http://www.hotelsonarbangla.com/rishyap.html) and Hotel Himalayan Hut.Neora Valley Resort is also a very good option.
The cab price from NJP to Lolegaon is around Rs 2500-3000, and apprx time required is 4.5 hrs to 5 hrs.

Hi aritra dey

It would be better if you go to Lava from New Mal Junction(Mal Bazar) rather than NJP. From New Mal Junction to Lava will cost around Rs. 1500/- by hired car.
