Hi IM Friends ,

The greenery and magic of dooars is beckoning me again to its lap. But this time this is not just an escape from the maddening crowd or just the love for nature(read dooars/north bengal). This trip will mean much more to me, will be remembered and cherished throughout the rest of my life. Yes, as you might have guessed by now, this will be my honeymoon trip . I'm getting married on 18th January, 2015. After the reception and finishing off with all the rituals, me and my wife will start our journey on 27th January night. We decided to go to north bengal for mainly two reasons. First one is obvious - my love and passion for dooars, it's forests and mountains. And the second one is that my wife has never been to north bengal yet in her life . I always told her that she doesn't know what she has been missing till date, especially because she herself loves mountains and greenery as much as me. Now that we will be together, I will definitely make her experience the magic of dooars, it's beauty and serenity .

Tour Plan :

27th January, 2015 - Boarding Darjeeling Mail(12343) Class 2AC from Sealdah at 10.05PM
28th January, 2015 - New Jalpaiguri(NJP) to Dhupjhora Elephant Camp(Booked the only Tree House/Gachhbari named Teesta) via Sevok, Damdim, Mal Bazaar, Chalsa
29th January, 2015 - Night Stay
30th January, 2015 - Night Stay
31st January, 2015 - Dhupjhora to Rishyap (Booked Neora Valley Resort Individual Cottage)
1st February, 2015 - Night Stay
2nd February, 2015 - Rishyap to Chhota Mangwa (Booked Darjeeling Blossom Ecotourism Complex Cottage)
3rd February, 2015 - Night Stay
4th February, 2015 - Chhota Mangwa to NJP and board Darjeeling Mail(12344) Class 2AC at 8.00PM
5th February, 2015 - Kolkata

N.B. :- I ahve kept 3 nights at Dhupjhora because there is a lot to do. Elephant safari(included in hotel package), jeep safari if possible, may be visiting Suntaleykhola, Paren, Murti, Chapramari etc and ofcourse relaxation too

All bookings done and confirmed except transportation from NJP to NJP. I am trying to hire a car for the full trip(don't want to keep the headache of bargaining with the drivers at every place though that could have costed much less). I should get a news about the car booking by next week. But I'm still confused about whether I should take an SUV or a hatchback . Hatchback should be enough for two of us. But without an SUV we will have to leave our car behind at Lava and hire one from Lava Syndicate while going to Rishyap. Let's see, will decide after I get the quote for both kinds of vehicle from one of my father's colleague.

Saying all this I would like to thank some IM friends who have helped me out with my queries about dhupjhora and the jungle safaries. Many thanks to abhinandab , arupratan ghosh , tanugang , debarshi

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage Saptarshi. I wonder if you could do me a favour? I'm trying to get a really good photo taken from Rishyap, similar to this; http://www.indiamike.com/india-image...s/mt-k-rishyap
which I want to use as the header for a website, it needs to be in landscape & preferably with no buildings, but showing lot's of greenery in the front of the photo & a clear pic of Kanchenjunga in the background. I tried contacting IMer Travo who took the above photo, to get permission to use it, but he no longer uses IM, see here;
Does anyone know IMer Travo from Kolkata?

Hope you can help.

Hi KK,

First of all thanks for your wishes
I will definitely love to help you if I can. I visited Rishyap twice before. I will search through my archive and try to come up with a photo that matches your requirement. I do remember a few pictures having a clear view of Kanchenjunga along with lots of greenery. I will send you those pictures if I can retrieve them. You can expect a PM from me within next 2 days.

Question

Hi friends,

Need a little suggestion from you all. Rather I should say opinion. I have got a quote of approx. Rs. 18000 for the whole trip NJP to NJP for a swift dezire. We will travel around 400Kms in the whole trip. This includes fooding and lodging of the driver. How high is this rate? Is it too costly compared to the current rates going on in North Bengal?

Hey Saptarshi, Hearty congrats for your wedding... I am also getting married and planning a honeymoon on February end. North Bengal is a real bliss to explore and my husband also has not been to Dooars yet... I am planning a trip of Samsing, Suntaleykhola and Dhupjhora as we don't have more than 5days. Got a lot of info from Indiamike. Can you please let me know about your car contact? It sounds reasonably good to me too. It is always good to have a nice car contact.
