Volunteering in Delhi
Hi,
A friend and I are coming to live in Delhi for a few months starting in September. We are both Americans, and we are looking to volunteer while we are over there. Just wondering if anyone knows of any reputable organizations that would like some volunteers for a few hours per week that are within Delhi. Thanks. |

Lonely Planet has a very decent-looking listing of volunteer opportunities, so you could pick up a copy and see what they have to say.
Their last India edition is from 2007; a new one should be coming out this fall. Could be only after your arrival though, I don't know their publishing dates. (Checking on their site, it is set to appear in September, as they say the last one was -- it comes out every two years --: http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/Primary... 250428884362 .)

Without comment.
This is one of the many starting points.
I have no clues other than a bit confused. Are you on a tourist visa or something else. [ Sorry Wray & Nephew are preventing me from being more cogent. ]

I think a bit of low-key volunteering on the side on a tourist visa shouldn't normally be too much of a problem.
Of course, a high-profile position with some major (or even remotely controversial, and I guess by nature many might be) NGO would be a very different ballgame. Not advised to try this without all the proper documentation I'd say. |

Well, Google is def a good idea, adn delhinetwork.org doesn;t respond to querry( may be they did not respond to mine) but what you can also do is use the services of organization like govolunteerindia.org, crossculturalsolutions.com, realgap, gapguru etc.
GOig directly may land you in an NGO, but credibility of the NGO should be seen, as more thatn 90 percent NGO are shit units... |
