Cheers everyone!

Could anyone give any names of volunteer organisations in Mumbai dealing with teaching English?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Diplomacy,
You may want to check out this website:
www.karmayog.com
there are plenty of volunteer opportunities listed there.

Dear Diplomacy,

Check the reply that I gave you about Goa. (I don't think they are much better than karmayog, by the way)

Cheers!

Volunteering Mumbai, urgent

Hiya,

I will be travelling to Mumbai by beginning of August and am trying to find an organisation to volunteer with for approximately a month. Therefore, it's rather hurry!

I have been in touch with CRY but they couldn't take me on as my stay would be too short.

The organisation should deal with children and/ or homeless people.

Any suggestions?

karmayog is your best bet since they are locally based. however here are some more..

Indian NGOs and Propoor are two other portals for you to check

TISS - Tata Institute of Social Sciences is a reputed institute located a north bombay. see if you can dig up any links from there or contact.

you have 10 days to find an organization. thats a bit aggressive to find a good match. its worth a try though...

do you know which area are you going to stay? have you been to india before? have you been to bombay before? what kind of commitment are you looking for?..full time, part time..for a month?..does it have to be only bombay?

greenchutney, thank you!

I have contacted around ten organisations and still no reply from any of them! I'm beginning to become nervous as I would need to find one before I leave!

I wrote an email to IndianNGO as they apparently have volunteer opportunities in Bombay. Awaiting their reply...

Volunteering - Goa or Mumbai

As Children Walking Tall appears to have enough volunteers for this fall, do you people know of any other organisations in Goa that one might turn to?

Or perhaps in Mumbai? Any good ones?

Depends what you want to do. Animal Tracks in Goa is always looking for volunteers. If you need further details let me know.

volunteering in Goa

There is a good cause in Candolim, Goa. a children's orphanage for boy's from ages 5 to 17, who have lost their parent's.
I help out usually 3 to 5 days per week mostly from 3pm until 6 pm, and at other times depending on needs etc.
We have set up a sponshorship a child account for items such as clothing, medicine (lots of malaria cases this year) and essential dietry needs and are also needing clothing and toys for donations from holiday travellers, if anyone can help out either by donation or by sponsoring a child by direct debit or any ways one can help i would be most obliged.

Thank you.

Lynne.
