Volunteering for eye clinics in India

"At the press conference announcing that
microcredit pioneer Dr. Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank had won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, Yunus told reporters that he wants "to work to create some new things in the world." One of those new things is already in development — a partnership with Seva Foundation to bring eye care to Bangladesh!

Seva and Grameen Bank are launching an unprecedented initiative to build a network of eye hospitals in Bangladesh, one of the world's poorest countries where more than 650,000 people suffer from preventable blindness......"

Seva is a Sanskrit word for "service". It is all about karma yoga, the yoga of the Gita. Ram Das (who wrote "Be Here Now" and was a disciple of Neem Karoli Baba) is one of the founding members. Seva teams with Aravind Hospitals for their charity eye care work.

Seva Foundation is an awesome organization - "compassion in action". If anyone is looking to donate money or wants to volunteer in India, Nepal, or Tibet at their eye clinics, contact Seva through their website.....
