Volunteer work in Mumbai
Hi there, my friend and I are travelling to Mumbai from the 12th Nov-19th Nov. I was wondering if anyone knows any volunteer programs we can help out in for about 3-4 days? I'm a qualified nurse who can play guitar and teach english, and my friend is a qualified baker. ( I know worlds apart
) Curious to know if anyone knows any programs we can help out for a bit, either with helping at schools or kids but anywhere would be excellent. Thanks Aaron |

? Ask yourself how much good you'll be contributing for as short.
Just enjoy your holiday I'd say; if the country takes to you, you can always return for more serious commitments.

Hi aaron,
I second Macha, But if you still feel like Volunteering, you can visit an orphanage or an old age home and spend some time with the Kids/veterans there. You may contact Akanksha foundation, it a NGO working towards welfare of Kids. http://www.indianngos.com/ngos/akankshafoundation.asp complete List of NGO's in and around Mumbai. http://mumbainews.wordpress.com/2006...ing-in-mumbai/

Get in touch with SOSVA (www.sosva.org) as they work with many NGOs in mumbai. They keep getting lots of requirements for volunteers from various NGO and they will match your skillset to the requirement of the NGO.

Get in touch with Radha on 26555704 or 26411205 number and check with her. Since you are from Mumbai it might be better to go to their office and have a chat with her, their office is off Hill Road. In any case below is their mailing address :
Society for Service to Voluntary Agencies Room No. 2, Ground Floor, Petit Municipal School, Opp. Bhabha Hospital, Bandra (W), Mumbai – 400 050 |

My girlfriend will be visiting for a month in Mumbai and would like to do some volunteer work during weekdays while I'm in the office. She is a fine artist so would love do something artistic if possible. She also speaks Korean and French, but there is probably not much demand for that. I'll try the above mentioned organisations as well.
