Volunteer opportunities for folks with kids?

Hi everyone,
I will be in India from Feb 2007 until mid May 2007 with my two daughters who will be 11yo and 6yo at the time. I would love some info regarding places we could volunteer together such as at an orphanage or monastary...

We will be spending most of our time in the North.

If you'd consider going to Goa then I'd recommend children walking tall. http://www.childrenwalkingtall.com - I spent time with them at the beginning of the year and it was brilliant :-)

their website mention that Mango house is waiting for a license and they're not taking on any more voluntary help for 2006, but you may be okay because you do not arrive until 07, I hope I can help them out still this year. Also you will need to have your CRB checks done, I did my husbands through NDF.

and another im member, shanthi, runs a childrens home outside bangalore and is always looking for volunteers. i'm not sure about the kids, but pm her, it's worth asking. and what a great idea to take your children.

Hi all,

I too will be traveling in April 07 to Delhi/Rajasthan with my two children. Are there any places along the way that would be appropriate to have my daughter (8 y/o) do some voluteer work?

Any thoughts about what she might be able to do other than teach a few english words? She has traveled to India twice and loves it.
