Volunteer Feb 2010
Hi there,
I am returning to India for the third time at the start of 2010 and this time would really like to combine volunteering with travel. I am looking to travel throughout January, then leave 4 or 5 weeks free to volunteer from February onwards. I am more than happy to cover my own expenses (transport, food and accomadation) - as long as it is for a good cause. I am also keen to avoid some of the large 'membership' fees I see some organisations are charging. If anyone can help/needs a volunteer please let me know - I am flexible in terms of location. In terms of skills: 1. I have taught basic English before, so would be more than happy to do that again. 2. I have worked in IT for a couple of years, so have basic IT skills that I could pass on 3. I used to work outdoors, so am also prepared to assist in any more manual projects. Please get in touch if you think you can help, Many thanks, Tom |

Sorry this reply is a bit late. SECMOL in Ladakh can use volunteers for English teaching and even just conversation practice, with eager teenage Ladakhi students who have failed out of the government schools in their remote rural villages. GEnerally there are about 40 students staying at SECMOL for a year, and then in February there will be a youth camp for about 60 more kids, for which more volunteers would be helpful. You would pay only for your room and board.
