Nice to be back on India Mike!! Just a hunch: I know member Bijapuri works/has worked for some rehab institution in Bangalore. Their site is here: http://www.thefreedomfoundation.org/

Maybe if a mod notices they might want to correct the font of your post (it hurts the eyes) and move it to the Volunteering section, where it might draw more attention. Please don't cross-post it there, as doing so will just create a mess.

Good thought, but it's handy/necessary for other purposes. Anyway, never mind, no biggie. It's just not so great if people use it in the hope of attracting attention to their posts.

Bijapuri is a respected member here btw, while I can't vouch for that group I'd have no qualms about contacting them. Oh there's this well-known one in Kolkata of course, friends have briefly volunteered for them and spoke highly of them. I'm sure there must be zillions of relevant outfits in India: http://www.google.co.uk/interstitial...ttarescue.org/. Their site seems to be currently malfunctioning (or possibly hacked or infected?) so I'm not sure if they do rehab programs, but I seem to remember so. There's a British support site here: http://www.calcuttarescue.org.uk/

They list some phone numbers: http://www.thefreedomfoundation.org/freedomcontact.html

Calling may very well be your swiftest direct approach, however make sure to after that get the details right in writing and/or quadruple-check them. It's not impossible for details to get mixed up owing to crappy phone lines/language issues/undue politeness etc. Or that's my modest experience anyway. (As in I've been about to get on a plane to India to do some volunteering after some calls only to find out by email in the last instance that things were just a little more complicated than that after all.)

Good luck with it, I'm sure there must be opportunities for you there to do some relevant work.

ps Member Dhans recently dropped this link to a decent-looking organization: http://www.eastwestrescue.com/ .

While I don't think they offer any direct opportunities or even relevant links for you, you could try and contact them (see their "general enquiries" email address) to see if they can give you any further pointers.

Well, good luck, do let us know how it works out.
