Urgent Delhi on 8th august, help!
Hello,
I had planned on volunteering in Ladakh for six weeks, but that just fell through! I have already booked my flight to Delhi and will arrive on Friday the 8th August, but now have nowhere to stay and no clue what to do. I would still like to volunteer, so has anyone got any advice as to what i can do? I have never been there before, so now i am panicking a little! Any advice would be much appreciated, James |

hey Jamie, no need to panic. Loads of places to stay here and you can find them in any budget range you want...

Don't bother with volunteering; just head to Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh and have a great holiday. Almost everywhere else in India is going to be too hot to be comfortable.

there's this bunch of chek's making a school at kargiak (the sun school) its a few days walk from darcha en route padum, across the shingo la, you could spend some time with them (Hunza is the leader with a cool straw hat!) then you could go ono padum and perhaps Lamayuru or Umasi la if you like hardcore trekking!

Hi Jamie,
If you are interested in animals, the Goa Animal Rescue (http://www.iar.org.uk/india/goa.shtml)welcomes volunteers for any period of time from 1 day to 12 months. If you do not feel like coming up to Goa you may want to contact an animal shelter in Delhi as most are happy to welcome volunteers. Friendicos in is a very good one. For a list with contact details visit: http://delhi.justdial.com/animal-helpline_Delhi.html Good luck |

Thank you for the advice. I have 9 weeks in India before my flight home!
So I'm going to use this site to find a place to stay in Delhi when i land. Then i'll get the train to Agra, Varanasi and Bodh Gaya (Hoping to stay in a Buddhist monastery while i'm there - for a few weeks) Well its certainly going to be an adventure! |
