The great giving a pen debate

Having been to India a few times we are taking with us pens and pencils on this trip to give the kids we have on past visits given lots of new children's clothes to different charities but find that is not possible on this trip,the reason why were taking pens is that we would never give money to the kids for all sorts of reasons and on our last visit we were asked by the kids did we have pens to give them, Steve

I don't give gifts to individual children and have no intention of contributing to the "Westerners as cashpoints" mindset.

There are charities to which I give regular support, but that is a separate issue.
