Angry Tent to send to India

Hi! I have a grievious problem. I just finished sewing a tent, when my husband informed me that I can't send it even with my very own money that I earn! I have a great desire to help this orphanage and to save them from homelessness. The orphanage owner is a Christian. I have known him for over a year, now. He has 35 orphans under his care. All now set to go homeless, due to my inability to help!
If you know of someone who plans to take a trip from here (Traverse City) to where it is destined to go: Tenali, Andhra Pradesh State, India, in the near future, please let me know - it will be a profound relief! Because then maybe I could arrange to send the tent with them. If anyone's just itching to do something helpful for someone, I hope you'll somehow get the notion to select me as the recipient of your kind care! I haven't been lucky very often during my life time, but I'm open to the possibility that luck may strike even in my lowly life! And I don't know what I will have done to deserve it, except for having done a lot of heavy praying over the matter!
Thanks.
Debby

Hi Debby,
I am not familiar with Traverse City but is there some Indian store (a grocery store maybe?) near where you live? You could advertise there. Also this website...www.sulekha.com....is for Indians and accepts free ads. Maybe you can post there.
I would have offered to take it for you as I'm moving back to India for good - but that's only in early June. I am shipping several boxes and a tent is no problem. However I do live in Philadelphia. If you can get it to Philly somehow and can wait till May, I can ship it with my stuff. Let me know what you think.

Wink sending tent to India

Hi! Thank you for your reply! I am keeping your letter in case you may turn out to be the one who will help me with this. I will first have to check for my best options, since we live a ways apart, etc. I will check out that ad site you informed me of too - that looks very good - thank you for telling me of that!

Hi! The reason I had doubted I could send it was partly that I thought it might be more than I could afford to pay. Another reason is that my husband had objected to my spending my money to send the tent. So I may need to rely on others to help me send it, or else wait till I can start earning money online, and then with money I earn from that, send it by postal mail, which I've now learned sounds like the best, most possible way to get it there. I learned that sending it by airline with someone elses baggage may likely be too expensive, as I was told they charge a lot for things weighing over the customary allowed limit of (which varies some) from about 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. I hadn't realized that, but now I do. I now see, as I've said the best way to send it is by postal mail, as that is the cheapest. It will cost $100 or a bit less to send it to India using the cheapest shipping method available at our post office and it takes a month or a bit more for things to get there with that cheapest rate.
Bye.
