Hi manreet,

shanti is in need of volunteers always since she takes care af kids and an extra pair of hands is always welcome.

why dont you contact her and decide the best time for her and you to volunteer or visit her?

Regards
mani

Shanthi has just been away for a couple of weeks having problems replacing her lost British passport in London.

I saw her in Chennai when she came here to get a temporary passport. She is not currently in need of volunteers and probably won't be until well into next year (information correct as of three weeks ago).

If you would like first-hand information about her place, then apart, of course, from talking to Shanthi herself, you could PM IMer Malkers who is a regular visitor.

As you can imagine, all kinds of people volunteer: having talked to her I know that, while she has received lots of sincere help, for which she is very grateful (especially to those who have kept things going while she had to take an unexpected trip to UK), she, as a one-woman band, is less keen on those that end up making work for her, or expecting luxuries out of her very small budget. Understand too, that she takes carer of young and teen-age children: the world being what it is it is necessary for her to take some time to check people out (as I imagine all such charities must ---or should). Even taking volunteers can be hard work!
