Opportunities to Combine Volunteering with Studying
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this thread... and I'm not entirely sure if my ambitions can be fulfilled as I am hoping...
I have an educative history in psychology and anatomical sciences with a longstanding passion for investigating the links between mind/body connections. My employment experience has mostly been in the administrative line in both the medical and health/fitness sectors, but I have done additional studies in personal training and nutrition (not university level). I contemplated in the past undertaking courses in complementary medicine back home (Australia), but unfortunately time and money were not on my side. If I was to categorise myself according to a belief system/s, I'd say that aspects of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism align best with what I perceive as the spiritual ideals of living one's life in harmony with the environment. I am currently on a 12mth voyage around the world, having just finished Morocco, SAm and Central Am and just about to land in India/Nepal. I have a dream that I may be able to find a situation where I could undertake studies in complementary medicine practices steeped in Indian culture (Ayurvedic, massage techniques...), whilst perhaps working/volunteering in exchange for course fees. At the moment, I have a return flight to Australia in March 2009 with additional travel arranged after India for SE Asia. I would be prepared to either stay in India while there now, or return after finishing my other travels. I understand that these opportunities may simply present themselves if meant to be, but I also believe that we need to be active in making what we want to happen actually happen. I would also be looking for whatever qualifications I achieved to be recognised by registered bodies in Australia for complementary medical practice there - to this end, it may only University studies in India that would apply. I guess that's why I thought I'd put a post out there on this forum, just in case anyone out there have information on something not commonly known of. I won't go on anymore in this thread, but if anyone would like to ask me more questions to ascertain if they can help, I would be most welcoming. Thanks! |
