Let us rise to rebuild the livesof Kashmir Quake Victims

Let us rise to help the Kashmir Quake victims and rebuild their lives

Hi,

I am here in Kashmir at this point, leaving the comforts of bombay to volunteer for the earth quake victims of Kashmir.

I am sure few may ridicule my idea of leaving work and going to ground levels to work. I have just one thing to say we cannot be always materialistic, selfish, as we dont take back anything we earn only the blessings, love ,respect of our selfless deeds.

A natural calamity can strike anywhere few years back it was gujrat, last year South India, now Kashmir, tomorrow it could be your home town, it could be your home irrespective you are in high storied buildings or plush bunglows or community buildings or swanky office complexes, nature doesnot discriminate... 26/7 in bombay was an example of it. Instead of sitting in our cosy chairs and being critical of the way the govt machinery is distributing aid or the shortcomings and having pity on these people... more people ought to take charge on their own and try and reach out in the best manner possible. Dont just donate and forget ... relief aid is no doles meant for beggars on streets... it is meant to rebuild the shattered lives of the needy rather than line the pockets of the middle man.

Hence I appeal to people worldover to organise the help they can provide and send across few volunteers as it is a logistic nightmare and also they would ensure the aid reaches the right people.
In India administered Kashmir the army has been the most efficient and honest adminstrator of relief operations. The right person to contact would be

Brigadier Mehta D.D. E.M.E. HQ 15( corp)
Indra Nagar,
Srinagar
J&K India

Tel . No. 0194 2465083

He is the right person who would even divert the aid and volunteers to the affected areas. Also people having expertise in logistic management would be welcome for his help. The urgent need is the PRE FABRICATED HOUSING which are EARTH QUAKE RESISTANT, as winter is approaching, it really is getting cold already

I may be away till the 2nd in remote areas hence I would request you all that we need to rise to help in this hour of need as we never now we could be next.

Thanking You

Anil Khare

Hay,
I am currently in Delhi awaiting my vasa from the Parkistan embassy to come to Kashmir tohelpm in the Earthquake relief.
I am meeting a English Tourist there whyo was tourinh Parkistan at eh time of the quake and is now volunteering - he is currently working for the JAC organisation. He has also given us some contacts who are organising volunteeers.
If for some reason this does not work - could you give me some directions and the name of someone who could organise us into some work once we arrive in Islamabad?
Addtiionally, do we require our own tents?

You'd not only need your own tent, but everything else that you personally would require. How great that you're thinking of going to help in the earthquake zone! What expertise will you be offering.....nursing?
