Initial charity planning ideas
Hello,
Having spent about a year travelling in India I really want to do something to help the street dogs especially in the Himachal Pradesh area. I would ideally like to raise money for an existing organisation already in the area, by setting up a wing here in London, or perhaps by setting one up here alone. If anyone here knows of an existing charity could you pls post me it, or any other advice would be most welcome at this stage (I have read the posts below with the link to the charity commision which was helpful). Also, one last thing: is it costly personally for such a venture? Thank you |

May I make a request to you, please?
Kali is not the name of a place - its the name of a revered Hindu Goddess. She is believed to be the source of Shakti (Power) and destroyer of all evils. It is a little uncomfortable (for an Indian) to deal with a phrase like "Dutchess of Kali" - Maa Kali is the sorce of all power - she cannot be the subject of a Dutchess. If possible, can you please change your ID? Its your decision - but if you do, you will win many friends. Your intentions are noble - and I am sure you did not assume the forum name to hurt anybody's feelings. Thank You. |

Just to clarify.. Is your organization planning to help the street dogs by saving them or killing them? Most municipalities in India have a pund that just gathers up the animals and puts them to sleep. However, 1. the dogs are hard to catch and 2. govt agencies in india are very effective.
Setting up a find is not very expensive. But one needs to have clarity on what he/she is planning to achieve and how.
