Fundraising Ideas?

Enable
This is a charity that I raise money for. Every penny raised goes to the children. There are no paid fundraisers and a group of trustees pay for the administration costs.
Many children - the likes of which you see begging on the streets, often afflicted with polio - have been given operations to enable them to walk and also the centre where they go gives them skills so that they may find a career and make an independant life for themselves.
They are children from the poorest villages of Andhra Pradhesh and the centre at Kanigiri has now grown so much that there is now a second 'home' for girls in Ongole.
Please look at their web site for more details if you are interested.

Thanks for reading this - I think its a great charity and if anyone has any ideas as to how I can raise funds for them I'd be glad to hear from you.Enable

suggestion

Goodmorning,

You do important work!
One suggestion: in order for you to be able to receive donations from abroad, maybe Paypal is an option. We have a foundation in India as well (Nagwa Foundation) and on our website you can see how paypal works. Also, when people outside England would like to buy your cards (I am interested in them!), it's a lot easier with payments...

Have you heard of Kiran Village in Varanasi? They do similar work and have - as far as I know - a lot of funds. Maybe it's interesting for you to have a look at their website as well.

Good luck with your project.

Hello

Hi,

1)Your website is not working anymore?
2)I do a lot of photography and filming in Dharamshala (India), I am also planning on designing postcards etc for charity. All my filming, and part of my photography will be available for non-profit organisations/charity.

If you have any questions....pm me.

I just fundraised with another woman $630 from a Christmas raffle for my tiny acapella choir, very pleased about that. Next we are doing a "jumble" stall at the local markets in March. The stall only costs $7. Donated prizes for the raffle plus donated used (but as new still) clothes, books and bric a brac for the stall. Raffles and jumbles are always good for fundraising.

A fund raising idea.

There are heaps of musicians out there, many are either friends or friends of friends, there are heaps of people with great voices, making a CD is simple and people always want to listen to something new.

It has become very popular to sit round for Kirtan, to sing Bhajans in small groups with a few simple instruments, the sound is very good and emotionally quite moving. There are those musicians that have computers that are set up for recording sound tracks etc, CDs are cheap and to produce one for sale with no musician or productions fees would be about AUD$2.00 with 10 or so really nice Bhajans.

If anyone is wanting to do some fundraising for a new charity (registered in the UK) then we would be delighted to hear from you. We started the charity in August with the aim of helping street children and slum children in India. For more information please visit our website

Hope you can help

With Thanks

I've read on your website what you hope to acheive,
But what have you actually done so far,
I think you'll have to prove your worthyness before people give you money, some of your requests for flats & houses are very large amounts,,,,,

Sorry to be sceptical, I'm sure you'll understand, but I have come across people who think setting up a "charity" in goa is also an easy way to fund a lifestyle for themselves over there,,,,,,,,

Well if you have a look at the pictures you'll be able to see what we've been involved with - health camps (although only helped not funded by us), sending food out to the slum, clothing, it's very strict over here now when it's relating to Children so we are in the process of registering (already registered in the UK though), hopefully once that is complete we'll set up a home where children can come for food education etc... hope this helps

Thanks

Rob

P.S. I wish I got paid!

Thanks for the advice, but don't know of any musical people in any of the slums we visit, the only ones I know are the ones that sell the flute types and I'm sure they only know the one tune...

Thanks

here is an idea, you probably came across before. people can participate in marathon races that happen wherever you are. You can get someone to sponsor you and you can send all that money towards any charity. Atleast in India, most sponsors don't like to make out a check for in a person's name, so you have to work out the details about which organisations that you are going to run for, what the organisation does to help people etc, before you start campaigning for sponsors/donors.

Generally, you can ask something like 2 dollars per mile that you run.

marathon 26 mile X $2 per mile = $52.
You can ask more per mile too. Getting more runners to run the race would also help raising more money.

some of my friends and I are going to try this idea of fundraising here in chennai. The marathon is on 20th Feb'05. if any of you be interested in running, do mail me.
