Cool donating prescription glasses

namaste/salaam alaikum friends,
just wondereing if bringing second hand prescription eyeglasses to india could be a good idea. i can buy lots in op shops here. they seem like a valuable resource being wasted.
who would appreciate them? i'll be arriving in Mumbai in december.

Seva Foundation

Please contact the Seva Foundation. They are based in Berkeley, California and are a reputable charitable organization that is very active in India with their sight programs.

Instead of bringing them to India, maybe you can send them to Seva to use in their programs in North and South India. Seva Foundation is truly "compassion in action."

thanks eduardo,
did you mean that you took glasses over to give to those who needed them? through a company? or through a charity organisation?
thanks for your help.

Look for Lions Club Collection Boxes/centers

The Lions Club runs charitable eyecare services in many places in India. They used to have collection boxes for used eyeglasses at General Post Offices (GPOs, or the main POs in the cities), and also at other locations. If you can't find these, they have collection centers that you can find out about by looking them up in the phone directories.
